The advantage of Orochimaru being a sage is that the cells and senjutsu he absorbed from kabuto would make his transformation more effective than narutos and possibly hashirama. I say this because when Kabuto used sage mode, he had an infinite supply of senjutsu pouring into him due to the fact that he infused jugo's cells with his own. Juugo's been the only one of his clan to be able to absorb natural energy.

SO! Orochimaru now having a suitable body (with the help of Kabuto) and he has the use of his hands too (now that the shinigami released his abilities in trade with reviving the 3rd hokage). He has the means to turn into a sage and maintain that transformation.

So...you're stating that just because Hashirama and Oro have sage modes that won't be enough? Maybe, but Orochimaru with the combined power of all 4 hokage would have FTG and every power that comes with the power of the joint Hokage.

In fact this guy would've probably inherited it from birth with mokuton but he discovered it later on in life. His jutsu is a kekkei genkai of water and earth combined. It provides its own natural energy, he probably found the means to use this himself.

If that's the case then what I said about Orochimaru having a superior sage mode is wrong and Hashirama would still be the strongest shinobi (besides Obito) on that battlefield.

I wouldn't count that out immediately. Kishi needed Hashirama to be free to show us how strong he is and so he could go and fight Madara and be awesome on the battlefield with Naruto and that. Remember the anti-wood style antidote Kabuto had? I doubt Kabuto made that himself and that could weaken Hashirama enough to put him under Oro's control. Orochimaru has also conducted lots of experiments on Hashirama's DNA which led to people like Yamato. Kishi could easily in one panel explain how Orochimaru could gain control of Hashirama, even if was just weakened in battle by Madara, there's plenty of ways to go about it.
