This is going to be a short thread, but it seems that with the new chapter there are still people who don't understand how or why Minato has control over Kyūbi, so I wanted to explain: when a user of the Dead Demon technique seals himself within the Shinigami, he and the victim (the person whom he sealed) exist within the demon's stomach. They don't "die" or remain in stasis such as actual death. That being said, while Minato has been away for fifteen/sixteen years, he has NOT been dead for that time. He's been alive in the Shinigami's stomach with fifteen to sixteen years to combat this creature. He's basically had the entire series and then some to subjugate Kyūbi, and as the creator of the seal, he obviously knows how to manipulate it to maximum effect: recall how restored Naruto's seal and then amplify that several times over (I'm willing to say a hundred times considering he's a Fuinjutsu genius, but that's admittedly too superlative).

As to why there are "two" Kyūbi, the answer is simple here as well: Bijū have long since been defined as creatures of pure chakra. By splitting the "yin and yang halves" of Kyūbi's chakra, Minato quite literally split the fox into two beings. However, if rejoined, this duality would cease to exist, at least that's my theory; it remain depending on how Kishi envisioned it.

If he was not dead, how did he get summoned by Edo tensei? Edo tensei can only summon the dead right? He died imo, but instead of going to the world of the dead, he went inside the death god's stomache.

He died imo, but instead of going to the pure world (where the dead go), he went inside the death god's stomache.
For those who wonder, the impure world is the world where Naruto and co live.
you are correct.

When he performed the seal, he sealed the first half of the fox within himself. That's how the fox got there. Then, during his time in the demon's stomach he was able to subjugate the fox enough to be able to use it's chakra. That all sounds right.

And the two kyuubi are, like you said, because Minato broke the fox into yin and yang with his seal.

This foreshadows a major possibility: That the two halves are going to recombine and Naruto is going to get a major powerup.

Since Minato's arm isn't going to grow back (Maybe Orchimaru can un-cancel the jutsu when he returns, allowing minato and hiruzen to re-form) it seems like the best thing Minato can do is to seal the other half of the kyuubi into Naruto as well.

I meant dead in the traditional sense of the word in terms of Naruto. When you go to the Pure World, it's different from having your soul leave your body and sealed somewhere else. I think Nagato and Itachi display this almost perfectly with their comments about their awareness of time and death seeming like it happened just a few moments ago.

I would call it dead in the dead gods stomache, seeing how the rule of edo tensei is the target needs to be dead to be summoned. But I get what you mean now though.
