I have regularly seen people complaining about Naruto's Sage Mode, saying that is useless right now since he obtained KM and even BM.

Of course, they have made sense, with those two powerful techniques, why would he made use of SM? He could easily enter KM. It looked like it was of use only for the fight with Pain and then it became useless.

Now in today's chapter things have turned pretty interesting; the SM seems to be the only thing that could successfully laid an attack on the host of the ten tails.

So the thing that was looking so useless finally got back its time to shine.

My theory on that is:

Onmyoudon according to the chapter is able to block all Ninjutsu
Gamakuchi uses Senjutsu and so Naruto saw an option to use Sennin modo.
It's quite obvious since Senjutsu is different from Ninjutsu.

Well said. That’s exactly how the things unfolded. What I’m trying to say is that Kishi did not give another random power up, but used something that has lost its worth nowadays because of the KM and BM, thus making a very interesting use of an old technique.
