There's nothing wrong with Sasuke not knowing. Sasuke can also see exactly what's going on with the sharringan and he's been up against sm before, he should also be able to tell the difference between sage mode attacks as well.

I don't think that means he's smarter, Naruto does have lots of knowledge when it comes to Sage mode and can sense stuff where Sasuke can't because he doesn't really know shit, so, I think Naruto is smarter than Sasuke in some areas.

more observant? no if sasuke had known the toad's attack was senjutsu he would have been on the same page as naruto. don't say naruto is more observant when he doesn't have the feats. kabuto used a different type of sage mode. that is like saying because naruto has seen itachi's susanoo that he knows everything about madara's perfect susanoo. they're completely different

I doubt Naruto even knew what he was doing himself, he's a power fighting type so he usually just charges in without thinking. Kurama did say he should use his normal form, but because Naruto needed Chakra he decided to change into Sage Mode.

But then he became pissed off due to Obito bad mouthing his father and then decided to attack. If anything, it's Tobirama who is more smarter than anyone as he realised this first.

No, I believe he was just shocked that Obito shielded himself from the attack.
