He put the rinnegan in Nagato's eyes for what reason? Before he met Obito how would he even get Nagato to use rinne tensai? Considering the fact that Nagato had no idea of his existence. I don't understand.

Obito is very talented at manipulating people. If he wanted Nagato to revive Madara, I think he would have done it. As for why Madara did it? I have no idea, he doesn't seem like he has that talent, Obito thought he sounded like a crazy person. Maybe Madara was hoping he could recruit someone smart. Madara couldn't even convince his clan to leave the village.
