Well this training isn't just about using what you know or the skills you have, the basic elements and even the advanced elements are things you can get training in without the higher degrees of hassle (permissions and what not). Sure it may take a while but if you look for teachers but the basics are something essential and you'll get to use them most definitely if you remain vigilent in your training. That being said, even if you hav nothing right now, do some intuitive thinking, look at some of the other elements and techniques and get a feel for it yourself. If you do some studying beforehand, when people start training you and you already have a easier flow through that training. Also if it helps any, don't be afraid to try some experiments with theories, I can help you if you shoot out a combo or a strategy you think would work. If there's anything wrong I can correct you and then you'll know for next time.^^

Now onto the next method, I believe we're on the third one yes.
Method 3: Melee
My favorite to explain. Chidori and it's varients like Negashi and spear, etc. Explaining Chidori will basically outline the rest. Simply another shape+nature manipulation technique. Channel the raiton chakra in your hand, concentrate it so that the vibrations are so much so that they create the sound of chirping birds. Then the varients only have some slight modifications, however they all start with the creation of an initial Chidori in the palm (note: this does not mean you have to use Chidori before you use any of hte varients).
This one should be easy, Questions?
