We're talking about the location mentioned in the OP are we not? In which case outrunning and flying are a bit tough at first. Plus, you are assuming Sasori would even allow Deidara to take flight. Remember that Sasori knows a lot about Deidara and out of the 2 of the, Sasori always felt like he was superior. There's a manga page just before the Sasori fight where he says that he is stronger than Deidara. But leaving that aside, outrunning someone and fighting against someone are two different things. Deidara can probably run away from this fight, but to win, he'll have to face off against 100+ puppets. Not to mention the strongest Kazekage (leave Gaara out of this for now).

It won't be an easy match-up, but Sasori wins against Deidara. Also if you consider their state of mind IC, then Sasori definitely wins it. Deidara messes around too much and gets too overconfident, while Sasori doesn't play around.

Sasori also gets overconfident, which was shown when he said he would demolish the two kunoichi,...look what happened .

Anyways Deidara also knew enough about Sasori to know about his core so that too is a weakness, I don't take into consideration what they said, as Deidara's statement was highly situation dependent

But ya if were talking about this lame location then i suppose Deidara has no chance really , however an outdoor fight like usual and Deidara's got this,

He does not have to run away, he simply needs to use the speed to avoid the iron sand,and Deidara would not mess around with Sasori,

He avoids it in the air easily, its a linear attack its not touching him on his clay bird meanwhile his Aimed C1's were able to get around Gaara's much more intricate and agile Sand, no doubt they would be able to hit the 3rd

LOL Sasori can spam Iron Sand forever, becasue Sandaime Kazekage is A puppet afterall, he can't dodge it, there is few who can counter it.
