Shanks always wears a long black cape over his shoulders and wears a straw hat obtained from his Kushoans that he had worn for many years beforehand, and was synonymous with his image. He mainly wears slightly loose brown trousers cut below the knee and collected halfway up the shin, with golden buttons down the outer leg. He can also be seen wearing a similar pair, but looser and with floral patterns on them. He wears a pair of sandals and is unshaven with a short scruffy beard.
Personality:
Shanks is one of the most laid back characters in the world of Narutoverse, preferring to take his time as he and his Ninja Pirate friends travel around the world rather than rushing from one place to another. Shanks is not cruel like many other Shinobi, nor does he rule over his Kushoans with fear to gain respect. His friendly nature means he will not purposely seek to harm others. Yet despite how simple minded he appears at first, Shanks is a complex person with some rather difficult to understand views. For example, he believes if two people share very different views, it is better they go their separate ways.

History:
Shanks was born in Iwagakure, to only his mother as his only immediate family. His father died as a rogue Pirate Ninja. Shanks was a very kind and strong boy. Going through the Ninja Academy and becoming a Jonin at the age of 14 due to help from his Steel Kekkei Genkai. He spent the next 13 years bettering himself and eventually mentoring a young boy named Broly. Broly was very weak as he had not yet become THE PERSONAL STUDENT OF SENSEI, LORD OF KAOS. Broly one day went into the ocean without telling Shanks and was attacked by a giant fish. Shanks had to save Broly and lost his left arm to this fish... temporarily. He saved Broly and was called a hero, having to get his hospital surgically re-attached later on. Shanks then left Broly with a special gift... A custom jutsu, and they parted ways while Shanks went on to become a Pirate Ninja. His story continues to unravel as he travels with a special group of Pirate ninja composed of shinobi from Kumogakure and Kushagakure.

Shanks is so good that he can perform all Lightning jutsus with one handseal and Water with quicker handseals.
He is a master of taijutsu so he can fight an opponent by only looking at their chin and below, focusing only on bodily movements and not of the eyes.
He carries some pretty trill weapons like a saber forged from his own steel release that is unbreakable, a gunbai, some pretty demon windmill shurikens and a large variety of other tools and gizmos.
He possesses a unique kekkei genkai, Steel Release, allowing him to use his Earth and Fire chakra to make cool steel stuff from the ground or his body.
