[Discussion] Do you like the fact Luffy is an idiot?

He isnt like Naruto,Naruto has his moments of stupidity but for the most part is normal but Luffy is just an idiot xD

Do you like the fact Oda made him so stupid or would you like him to be smarter even a little?
I know he has his moments of brilliance too tho so dont think in hating on Luffy :|

Anyway I like the fact he isnt too smart since its the reason why OP is so funny throughout the episodes without even doing any forcefull comedy.Also it gives Luffy that innocence feel in a way and when he goes badass mode it makes it all the more cooler

I wouldnt say that.
Zoro and Sanji can definetly see that but they also recognize that Luffy is the strongest amongst them and thus will obviously let him go after the strongest enemy

despite that fact he is really cool, although he is just a manga character, but still his fighting spirit is always inspiring to watch...

I think it's just that they trust Luffy's judgment and realise that whoever Luffy wants to fight is the strongest. Not that they themselves knew it from the beginning.

well this is somthing i can discuss into full detail on i love that he is a complete and utter dumb ass but at the same time it i HATE it more then i hate the zoro sanji rivalries

an example where i hate it was at whiskey peak who he was so dumb about when he thought zoro cut up all the "friendly" people because of them not making his favorite food that didnt put one smile on me and i just said straight up....no luffy......no (but i admit i liked it when they fought it was cool it showed how atm zoro was actually on the same level as luffy i knew luffy was stronger but honestly he was barely stronger at the time)

i do love it on simple occasions like the scene where he asked law if he would betray him and law just said no and he was completely convinced

overall i wish luffy was a BIT smarter but not that much i want him to have some more common knowledge then he currently has but thats it i still like him as stupid just not too stupid

I don't think he's really that big of an idiot in its entire meaning, he can act like a BIIIG idiot but if I had to describe him he's just an easily overly excited dude with an extremely short attention spam which causes him to not try to actually understand things but just shift his attention midway through

also another reason why he can't simply be classified as an idiot, some of the things he does say, come up with, does could never have been concocted by an idiot

he isn't exactly a genius, but he definitely isn't a complete idiot either

^This. There's a comedy set up called Manzai and Luffy is the Boke. Sometimes he's dumb, sometimes he's confused Most of the time I think he's ****in with people.

Luffy's idiocity is not really a bother for me coz when its time for action he's genius in a way, and realising Croc's weakness was proof of this.
Zoro's lack of an inner compass was fun at first but now its really boring.

Well I like how his stupidity can be laughed at but when it comes down to it he's the ultimate badass and he's intelligent when it comes to battle and forming strategies against his opponents so he don't need to be that outside of battle, still Luffy is one of the coolest characters ever and is my favorite character in One Piece.

I think Luffy is everyone's #1 or at least in top 3. xd


OT: Anyways I don't mind it at all, I actually find it quite humorous. One thing that kind of annoys me but not too much is Zoro's sense of direction especially if something is down or during a climatic scene.

i love how he has no sense of direction but only because zoro is usually a very serious guy and seeing someone so serious make an idiotic move to me is really funny if zoro wasnt that serious like puffy or usopp i wouldnt like it that much
