Switching Eyes to get EMS

So can two Uchiha brothers who obtained Mangekyō get EMS just by switching each other eyes, or does one of them have to die?

It was not shown. The only thing we can do is speculate or theorize. But I say, no. Something tragic still has to happen to awaken the EMS such as Izuna's death for Madara to awaken EMS.

What do you mean by fuse? Like become one set of eyes only?
I always thought to get EMS you just have to switch eyes and then your chakra mixes with the original eye user chakra therefore combining/mixing them together

The loss of a loved one refers to the ms, in order to get ems you need the ms of another uchiha in your familey, you dont need to lose a loved one twice lol how did sasuke aquire ems it was clearly shown.

so i say yes they could switch but thats just my opinion i guess
