So you're saying that this is his first time using it on the battlefield? Then why would Hiruzen jump away, almost instinctively, and immediately tell Minato to jump away from Tobirama as well? It seems as if this was a tactic performed between the Nidaime Hokage and his subordinates with practiced ease.

Clearly he hoped to live through kinkaku force and didnt resort to suicide himself.

It is implied in the manga that he has used this technique before but with the Edos that he must have summoned
