That's not the reason, after all, he had a rough outline of how the story was going to unfold and the almost anagram 'Tobi' tells you something.

I checked and found out it was only in the anime, so it's the animators who didn't know that Tobi was Obito.

tobi is one of my favorite villains, pure badass. sadly, his character went down the drain after his identity was revealed. not that i dislike obito, i like his gaiden very much, but something didn't feel right. i guess the mystery part was one the things that made tobi awesome.

my favorite tobi scene is the one with the voice change, from funny to serious, after the itachi vs sasuke fight.

Pretty confusing, yes, since there's no one around except Zetsu and Tobi. If it was Obito, he wouldn't have had the need to pretend.
