Yo! Sora-sama here. I'd like to welcome you all to my super fabulous fic, please read, review and...well...enjoy! So, without further adieu, I present, Bloodline Chapter One.

Chapter List!

(-0-v-0-)

Knowledge, some call it the true source of power, and in many cases that might be true. However, only the ignorant masses could ever fool themselves into believing that knowledge could truly rule the world.

The world we see around us is veiled, an illusion cast upon the regulars, the ordinary people who aimlessly live their lives unwise to the reality that lies before them.

What they believed to be myth is truth and what they believed to be the truth are illusions. Such is how the world operates, where a direct path doesn’t exist and bends lay around every corner.

Some might believe magic to be strictly confined to the realms of cinema and fairy tales, another example of a truth disguised as a myth. Magic is real, as real as any man on Earth and it is the true source of power.

Those who wield it tower above all others, and those who wield it wisely, even more so.

The Council of Six are six particular users of magic, men and women who rule entire continents, stronger and more influential than any other of their kind. These Six are the true rulers of the world, a world inhabited by sorcerers and legendary beasts of myth.

For nearly a thousand years the world of magic has lived in the shadows, hidden away from the reality of the ordinary humans, and for all that time, there was peace, or something resembling it.

Wars were minimal and prosperity was a given. However, peace is not eternal, it never has been and it never will be.

The Council of Six are on the brink of declaring war, a war that could threaten the stability of the world itself, a war that could lead to insurmountable consequences for humanity and push it down a path it could never recover from.

The year is 2013, the location is Osaka, Southern Japan. This is where our story begins; this is when the world will be forever changed.

He gazed into the murky blackness ahead with dull emerald eyes, a surprising calmness washing over him as he turned to face what destiny had already predetermined.

The soft clatter of feet on water resounded through the dank tunnel, echoing through the darkness like a harbinger of death. The stench of the sewers filled his nostrils as all his senses came alive, his heart beating mercilessly against his chest, almost willing his limbs to move, to run as fast his lithe legs could carry him.

Every stain, every puddle and every smudge of dirt across the cold grainy sewer stone became visible to him like never before at that moment, along with the thought that he would die in such a pathetically pitiful place brought bile to his mouth.

And yet Saga stood vigilant, determined to face his fate head on. There would be no more running for him, no more avoiding his demons, he would fight as a true warrior should and face his death with cold steel.

A bead of sweat sprinkled with inklings of blood snaked its way down his cheek as he balled his fists and clenched his teeth, his fierce jet black hair matted down with sweat and grime.

The sound of footsteps grew ever louder as each painful second passed, the darkness shifting and turning, readying itself to present the demon it held within. Saga steadied himself, for he knew what was coming. He knew what had been hunting him through cities and sewers alike for the past week, he knew what faced him, and he knew he stood no chance.

And yet, the raven couldn't help but smile. This was far from the death he had envisioned for himself, lacking the war torn battlefield and the sounds of comrades beside him.

Nevertheless Saga waited patiently, his emerald eyes gazing into the darkness. It seemed like hours had passed before a hooded figure finally emerged through the blanket of murky shadows, a large, almost ethereal scythe balanced across the being’s back.

Its hood obscured the creatures face with an unnatural shadow whilst its robe covered the rest of its body leaving only a pair of pale, thin hands visible to the outside world.

A Grimm, the very creature that influenced the legend of the Grim Reaper, beings of death that serve as the finest hunters and assassins of the magical world.

A raspy voice spoke out, tearing at the raven’s ears and bringing forth an intense feeling of nausea, “Saga Yamato, submit yourself to judgement…” demanded the being.

The raven scoffed at the idea as he willed the bile back down his throat, he would be a disgrace to the name Yamato should he choose to die with even an ounce of energy still left in his veins.

Completely ignoring the Grimms’ demands, Saga positioned himself as he had done a thousand times before, raising his right fist whilst bringing his left to his back and bending his knee to attain a stance he had mercilessly practiced day after day for the last thirteen years. If he were to die, the least he could do was go out fighting as a true Yamato would.

Without so much as a whisper, Saga charged towards his opponent with a ball of sparkling blue electricity surging through his fist, his keen eyes taking in every detail about the creature’s weapon. As expected, the being raised its scythe and brought it down in a circular sweeping motion, grazing Saga across the knee as the raven leaped above the deathly arc to deliver a bolt of lightning induced energy into the being’s head.

However, the attack did nothing to harm, not to mention stop the creature. A shadowy blanket of darkness began to creep up his arm as Saga pulled his hand out through the creature’s hooded head; the large gaping hole formed by his strike slowly repairing itself as shards of black converged upon the hole.

The creature swung its blade once again, missing by mere inches as Saga regained his balance and barrelled backwards. He knew that none of his strikes would do any permanent damage, but he had assumed that a strike through the skull would have at least incapacitated it for a while, and to make matters worse, he was drastically low on essence. He had neither the power nor the energy for a prolonged fight.

He had only one option left to him. Pulling out his decorated blade, a family heirloom, Saga summoned every ounce of essence he could spare to his arms, legs and then infused the remaining into his blade as lightning, his eyes closed as he concentrated the energy before diving into a furious assault on the being.

Saga moved like a boy possessed, his movements barely a blur to the naked eye, spinning and twisting all around the Grimm whilst shredding through its robe with an almost animalistic vigour as he attempted to tear it to pieces before finally relenting and retreating.

The raven stood a few meters away, panting heavily, eyeing the unmoving Grimm through glazed eyes as the attack began to take its toll on his body.

The creature however seemed unaffected, or even unaware that it had been struck, its lithe form slowly continuing its silent march through the dank sewer water towards its prey as the various gashes across its body once again faded into darkness.

Saga could feel the strain on his body as he fell to one knee, the last of his energy draining away. ‘Shit! The charge took more energy than I’d expected!

At the back of his mind he could feel the weight of his father pressing on him, demanding that he not fail and besmirch the Yamato name. However, Saga hadn't the energy left to care, his limbs slowly going numb as the strain of his assault took its toll. "I'm sorry mother...father, it seems.....I've failed your sacrifice..."

Was this the end? Hmph, how anti-climactic. Despite wanting to go out with a bang, the raven hadn't even the energy left to light a spark.

“Heh…” began Saga as the Grimm loomed over him with its scythe raised above its head, ”...well…**** you, you filthy piece of shit.” he finished with a vicious grin. Saga was nothing if not proud, until the very bitter end. After all, if he was going to die, he’d die like a Yamato.

The Grimm looked at the raven through shadowed eyes, examining the defiant look on the boy’s face. Distantly, it smirked.

With a shrill screech that filled the air, the scythe bore down on Saga, intending to taste the blood of the last heir to one of Japan’s finest bloodlines…

You took this story nearly word for word from a fic by Scion of Hentai. You didn't even give the tiniest shred of credit. I can't believe I repped you.

To everyone who cares, this is where this chapter was transcribed from-

Just so you know...I guess it was stupid on my part for not stating this earlier...I AM Scion of Hentai...but I know you won't believe me so I'll post as my alter ego here to prove it. Sorry for the 'deception'.

[EDIT] In case people are wondering why I have two accounts, long story short...I left NB for a while, decided to come back later only to find out I forgot my password so I created a new account a.k.a Soraton but later on, I'd managed to recover the password and now I have two accounts...

[EDIT 2] Eh, also, in case people are wondering why I've posted the same story twice? Consider this a re-write. The old version kinda began dragging on as the chapters progressed which is an issue I'm hoping to fix in this version.

Lol, nah. I deserve it for not posting it in the author comments in the first place...though in my defence, I didn't think that anyone would remember my shitty writing in the first place =D

Shitty? The very fact that you work would be so clearly impressed in my memory that I could instantly recognise a copy by style alone is a testament to just how skillful you really are as a writer! Good job! =D

Scion, you're back? Had no idea this was you. Good reminder on your story. Glad you're back too; it was a shame when someone so skilled dropped off the map.

Pretty good. Well written. Most self published books or fan fics are down right tedious to read for me but this was a refreshing change of pace.

High praise indeed! I'll make sure that future chapters continue to be non-tedious lol! ....hopefully...
