Konnichiwa my fellow members, today I'd like to propose a topic I've been interested for quite some time: Iruka Umino's abilities.

I know he has had a meager role in the story in terms of fighting, however he seems to posses abilities strong enough to have made him at least a chunin. But this isn't what caught my attention, his stats in the 3rd Databook is. In the three Databooks, Iruka scored a 24 in the first, and consecutive 26 in the second and third. In comparison to his peers, he is ranked higher than the following:
Anko Mitarashi (25)

Hayate Gekko (24.5)

Temari (24.5)

Shikamaru Nara (24)

Rock Lee (22)

These are just a few of the many shinobi Iruka surpasses in terms of Databook Stats. The strange thing is, all the characters I mentioned above have been involved in at least one major battle; I barely call Iruka vs Mizuki a battle. So my question is, why has a character that has been with us since chapter 1, and ranked above many elite shinobi, only have one jutsu that was shown to us?

Sure, Iruka has high intelligence, but he's also exceptional in ninjutsu, taijutsu, and hand seals? Could he have more advanced barrier ninjutsu up his sleeve that hasn't been shown to us? Leave you're comment and opinions below :win:

Iruka's going to come in and kick obito's tail in order to save naruto. He'll die but we'll see his abilities.

Besides that barrier technique, I don't expect to see anything else from Iruka. I don't understand how he has databooks of those scores when we never see him fight. Even in the Pain Invasion, he just cowered in fear until Kakashi came and saved him from Deva... I don't like Iruka that much, he's like on of those random fodders in the manga to me who's only importance was being the first to acknowledge Naruto.

I thought this was suppose to be iruka's abilities, not his students.

What do you mean by "make him at least a Chunin", when he actually is a Chunin. . . ? hmm

The fact that Iruka has been Naruto's stand in father figure thing since the very beginning makes me wonder why people give so little care about him and call him a fodder. He has to be worth something if they trust him to teach future ninja, if he was given the father like role to the MAIN character, if he was given these stats.. Makes me wonder what Kishi is planning for his character development, which is long overdue.

All mentioned characters would fodderize him in a fight by feats.

His importance was being the first one to acknowledge Naruto; his databook stats are high actually; that's because he need to know and teach basis of every ninja stuff to new generation and as a teacher he is suppose to be intelligent.

Didn't Deva Path fodderize him without even using ST or CT?

Even Mizuki; the first certified villain and fodder of Narutoverse fodderized him.

Mizuki and Iruka are both about the strength of 2-3 of base naruto's shadow clones in the first episode of Naruto before he received any training from Kakashi or Jiraiya LOL

Iruka is basically Sakura without the strength and healing.

How exactly? Can Sakura preform barrier ninjutsu? Up until recently, we've seen Sakura in battle and she's been useless. She's been in plenty of battles. Sakura vs. the sound nin, Sakura vs. Ino, Sakura vs. Gaara, Sakura vs. Sasori, Sakura vs. Sasuke, and basically everyone except for the sasori battle (which she had help with) she either lost or gave up or was saved by someone else.
Iruka on the otherhand, was only involved in one battle, against Mizuki. And this was the very beginning where the concept of jutsu wasn't as solid as it is now. So of course, beither Mizuki or Iruka showed any jutsu, but they presumably both had jutsu because they were chunin. Please, back up your argument.

You backed up my argument enough with your post.
