So I was re-reading chap. 525 and Unohana made a statement about only being weaker than Kenpachi:

And I wanted to know whether you guys thought this was an absolute truth or do you think someone like Yamamoto of Juha Bach could beat her.

i doubt she would hav defeated juha .. yama's bankai got stolen so easily . . her bankai is exceptionally powerful no doubt in that ...it melts the opponent ..but quincy's hav blut vene to protect themselves from any injury so i dont think that would work either against juha
at this point i would say she was stronger than any shinigami's n hollows thanks to her powerful bankai ..but not against quincy's thanks to their blut vene

I thought that Yama's bankai didn't get stolen? I thought it was too powerful to be contained inside the Quincy badge thingies? Also, does Blutvene protect a Quincy against any attacks that aren't physical (such as swords)? I may be wrong on both of these, though.

Nah it was just to powerful for any Quincy but Juha Bach to handle.( remember when Juha Bach came back from talking with Aizen and Yamamoto attempted to use his Bankai again and it disappeared? Well that's when Juha Bach Stole it and told Yamamoto that his "explanation" was basically bulls***)

fake juha tried to steal it first but he couldn't do it because it was too powerful for some1 other than original juha to handle ..
later that fake died original juha appeared n stole yama's bankai

i believe blut vene protects quincies from any type of physical attacks . .ichigo survived against juha by producing blut vene when juha stabbed him using his sword in the neck
before that when ichigo fought sternritter kirge opie he was using blut vene to protect himself from ichigo's getsuga tenshou . .

she's is extremely strong (major league bad ass) but to be honest, i don't think that she's stronger than genryusai (the ancient shinigami).
so personally i think she is the second strongest shinigami after the captain commander (always believed so even before she showed any of her power/since the aizen arc).

Yeah I agree with you but did you consider her to be 2nd strongest in the beginning because of her stats in the bleach character book or was it for some other reason?

I definitely think Yama-jii was stronger than her. She may be better at healing and general swordsmanship, but...
The man was a powerhouse with/without the use of his OP bankai. Heck, his shikai was stronger than some bankai.

Just as Unohana had supposedly never lost, who do you think had the power to defeat Yama-jii?
This is the guy whom Aizen believed had offensive power exceeding that of his own and took extra care against.

Given that Yami-jii lost to Yhwach, I don't see how Unohana would fair any better.
Her shikai didn't seem to be particularly offensive and simple slashes can be blocked, as we know, with Blut Vene.

Oh, and her statement about being stronger than anyone but Zaraki came after Yama-jii's death. Interpret that as you will.​

i don't know bro ....... but something about how everyone viewed her (the respect she gets). how she is always close to the captain commander plus she is the oldest after him (older than shinsui/ukitake) and i always wondered "why isn't she showing her real power, yet seems calm ...... always ??". i even remember aizen SERIOUSLY acknowledging her power at one point (can't remember the chapter/episode) witch is not something that aizen does often (remember what he did to the captains lol). never underestimate the old calm collected characters they ALWAYS turn out to be monsters.

I don't think Unohana was stronger than Yamamoto. Yamamoto was the one man in all of Soul Society who was able to keep the original "bloodthirsty killers" in line. He lead them. He kept them in check. I don't see how he could have done so if he wasn't the top dog.
