Do the five great nations of Narutoverse reflect countries from our world?

Okay from the very beginning I'v thought that the mountside images of the hokages was similar to mount rushmore in my home country of the USA:

And now that I think about it, the land of mist, being an island nation with mountainous terrain\/ kind of reminds me of Japan.

Did Kishi ever say anything about this or am i imagining things? Are the other three great nations and the smaller ones based off real world countries too? What do you guys think?

Konoha: 'MERIKA! F*CK YEAAH!. But no, it is. Always talking about peace. . When the USA does have their fair share of destruction and such on their hands.

Suna: Saudi Arabia. They are suppose to be allied with USA, but at the same time they fund their enemies/betray them.. Sort of like how Suna betrayed and attacked Konoha.


Kumo: China. Powerful, cool-ish. But at the same time such a military state... And sort of.. Power-mad.

Kiri: North Korea, for it has somewhat of a bad history and seems to be.. Avoided by most others.

Iwa: Not really sure! I'd say... Germany. Strong, prideful people.
