So much fail....
----------------------------------------------------
When Florida lawmakers recently voted to ban all Internet cafes, they worded the bill so poorly that they effectively outlawed every computer in the state, according to a recent lawsuit.

In April Florida Governor Rick Scott approved a ban on slot machines and Internet cafes after a charity tied to Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll was shut down on suspicion of being an Internet gambling front -- forcing Carroll, who had consulted with the charity, to resign.

Florida's 1,000 Internet cafes were shut down immediately, including Miami-Dade's Incredible Investments, LLC, a café that provides online services to migrant workers, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The owner, Consuelo Zapata, is now suing the state after her legal team found that the ban was so hastily worded that it can be applied to any computer or device connected to the Internet, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by The Miami Herald.

The ban defines illegal slot machines as any "system or network of devices" that may be used in a game of chance.

"When Florida politicians banned Internet cafes earlier this year, the intention was to stop illegal online gambling."

Doesn't the link count as advertisement?

Posting a thread, making a post, using a link at your signature or advertise through visitor or private messages a web site or forum not associated with NarutoBase, but based on manga or anime, is considered advertising and it will be treated with no tolerance at all.

While talking about legislation and it's wording, there seems to be people who don't pay that much attention to it. No it's not advertisement.

Back on topic now, the whole idea to ban all the internet cafes because you want to stop internet to stop illegal gambling is kind of inadequate. Anyone could buy a computer or/and a smartphone to use it to connect to a free Wifi or crack someone else's Wifi (it's not all that hard nowadays). So the law in the first place wasn't the right solution. And then they go and **** it up completely.

Only in the Great 'Murica!

Because stupidity is chiefly an American quality?

The awesome part about America is that Florida can be stupid as hell along with California. Us in Missouri, then, only have to put up with the stupidity of our own residents. The public ban on smoking that just got mandated by our city council, for example, is a reason why I want to move out of the city. I may not smoke, but the way it is worded, if you go into someone's house and say that smoking offends you, they cannot legally smoke in their home until you leave.

What's funny is the non-smokers are more worked up about it than many of the smokers. "I'm not a **** to people, so this isn't so bad." ... but us non-smokers are like "What? Seriously? The city council can unilaterally impose their will on residents and businesses.... and lobbies from the Moose, VFA, etc dropped their fight against it until after the drafts omitted their establishments?! Torches and pitchforks, fellas!"

It would be one thing if the people of the town were just that stupid and voted on it. It's another that they just passed a law that sweeping without putting it to a vote.

i wonder if poker cards qualify into that, it is a system/network and a card could be considerd a "device", more then it can be a "device that is used for gambling". LETS BURN ALL THE CARDS IN THE STATE

Ha. I've got a better one for you. Going by the wording of the bill they legally outlawed their own state lottery as well.

I think it's because these elected officials they are put into office are mostly a bunch of idiots. I feel they are out of touch and just try to cover their own salaries. How did someone pass a law that was so broad it did something like this? Did the governor read over the bill and with all his qualification/knowledge he managed to mess up this bad. Gahhh if I lived in Florida I'd be piss.
