Well madara says he has a trump card, and that if obito becomes like the sage of the six paths he might anticipate that trump card. The only explenation that i have to that is that the sage did something while being the ten tails jinchuriki that lets you control it and wrote about it on the tablet that only someone with a rinnegan (someone that can resurrect the ten tails) can read.

the only flaw i see here is that obito had the rinnegan too, and he could read the tablet as well. we never saw him trying to do it but he might have. still without the means to control the jubi written on the tablet i don't know how madara could have had a "trump card"

I think whoever intends to control the juubi has to be pure of heart or hatred, like naruto had to do with kurama. Obito is too weak to control the juubi, which is why it looks like the juubi is in control. Obito never awakened his own rinnegan, he has been riding on Madara's power.

maybe this is it, you need to aweaken the rinnegan yourself to read it. hm...
