An exciting job opportunity in Hollywood has arisen today for an actor with the abilities to cryptically whisper, spend long periods of time in vacuum-packed latex suits, emotionally handle comparisons to George Clooney, and face thousands of repetitive questions about potential sequels: the role of Batman is apparently up for grabs.

After teasing that the only way he would return as Bruce Wayne's alter-ego was if Christopher Nolan returned for a fourth Batman installment (and Nolan's subsequent denial that that would happen), three-time Batman star Christian Bale has confirmed that he will not be revisiting the DC Comics character for the upcoming Justice League movie. In fact, it sounds as though he will retire the character altogether.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films],” Bale demurred to Entertainment Weekly. “That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy.” As for whether he has even been involved in conversations about the Warner Bros. superhero supergroup movie, Bale said, “I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it.” While he did not speculate about a successor, Bale did reveal that he is excited to pass down the part to another face. “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

After Marvel's competing superhero supergroup The Avengers enjoyed a victory at the box office last year, Warner Bros. began re-mounting a Justice League project with Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall attached to write the script. When the studio tried making the film in 2008, it reportedly cast Lone Ranger and Social Network star Armie Hammer as Batman. For those unfamiliar with the fictional superhero team, it originally featured Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter.

savage would be a great villain, they could make him start to get his own team of villains just the justice league.

The biggest problem they face is dealing with the Batman problem.
Christian Bale won't be a part of it and Robin simply doesn't carry the weight that Batman does.
I think their best course of action would be to just make Batman extremely mysterious. Just a faceless character that takes out bad guys without being seen and sets up the others for success. That would maintain the Batman mystery and grittiness without bringing up a bunch of hate.
Considering that the next best alternative would be to make a new Batman movie which could never possibly compare to Nolans trilogy.
Be interested to see how it compares to the Avengers.

I'm sure they can find many other actors who will be up for playing Bale. In my opinion he was meh.
As for a villain, I think Savage could work rather nicely. Though I'd save him up for a sequel, when the leaguers have formed a greater connection.

At the moment, the JL movie is very far off. Bale will not come back as Batman. Ryan Reynolds is probably not coming back as Green Lantern. And Superman is the ONLY movie that's ready to go. We still need Wonder Woman, a new Batman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern possibly and either HawkGirl or Aquaman.

And there's barely any news on most of these movies, if any. They're trying to push a 2015 release for JL. That isn't happening. As much as I want a JL movie, It's gunna be a while. :'(

Not really. Whoever is in the Batman suit matters on some level. But, as long as there is Batman in the movie it's going to make a lot of money. Batman, regardless of the actor, will generate a lot of money just because of how popular he is.

The film is really going to depend on which member they choose to represent the JL, which villain they decide to use, the director, the writer, and how to make certain characters appealing to the audience ( Wonder Woman, Flash, etc.) without giving them a solo movie of some sort.

I agree. Savage would be an amazing villain for the JL in a movie verse.

We won't be getting JL for a long time. DC is stupid for never doing a Flash/WW movie. All they cared about was Batman/Superman. They're afraid with the responses from GL. I liked the movie myself and love Reynolds, but not as Hal.

Anyways, with the exception of Superman, I think we'll see all new faces. They should/could do the White Martian story to be safe. Maybe an Area story if the world has gotten too safe with all the heroes. I'm not sure. I'd save Darkseid for last. I don't like him anyways, but he's definitely an end all villain. Maybe Brainiac.

I'd do the JLA from the show. Hal or John as GL, doesn't matter, but I'd prefer Hal to keep it like the original. I'd change Wally to Barry, but yeah, pretty much like the show.

I'd expect a JL movie in 2018-20.
