Ok, long story short, I'm going on vacation for about a month. I want to do some reading/watching of certain manga/anime. However, I may or may not have internet, so I want to know where I can download manga/anime to watch. If they can't be downloaded, where can I read/watch when I do have internet.

Now, I have had a huge backburner on manga/anime I been wanting to read/watch, so specifically, if you know a place I can get these, pm me a link of what it is, which format it is in(anime or manga), and if it really is worth my time.

The manga/anime I want to get into.

20th Century Boys

Black Lagoon

Clannad

Darker than Black

Deadman Wonderland

Fate/stay night

Fate/Zero

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Kuroko no Basket

Liar Game

Monster

Steins;Gate

Tower of God

(I know I'm forgetting some)

Also, out of this list, if you want, you can make a compelling argument which I should start first, since I'm not sure if I will finish all of these in a month.

Now I don't know much about these except they are damn good series. What format is best is my biggest concern to get the best experience out of the series. If its anime sub or dub(English). Are they still ongoing series?(I know 1 is and one is almost finished). Also, how kid friendly are they, I may be sitting next to my little brother when I don't have to drive, so any details like that for these manga/anime would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you think there is another series I should also get into, let me know. DO NOT MAKE A LIST ONLY. Give me a brief description of each suggestion. What kind of genre is it?

Stuff NOT to suggest.
Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Soul Eater
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Naruto
Code Geass
Yu Yu Hakusho
Samurai Champloo
Dragon Ball(any Series)
High School of the Dead
Naruto
Air Gear
Death Note
Elfen Lied
FlCl
Naruto
Gantz
GTO
Rurouni Kenshin
Eureka Seven
TTGL
Attack on Titan
Sword Art Online
and Naruto

Anything that is Etchi or Hentai is also a no.(I'm going on a family trip, so this would be a bad thing).

I'm sure I missed some on this list too. I wanted to cover the most popular at least.

Please make sure to pay attention to the list(I figure this is a given but some people never read the op so I put this here in case their eye might catch it.)

Oh and please read my post. Don't skim.

Thank you again. Any help would be appreciated.

That is because I have either watched them, is currently watching them, or I'm waiting to watch them. I want the get into the other series first. And what's wrong with wanting too much? I can dream big.

Try the manga of Berserk. You will definitely enjoy it. Also try One-punchman. Though the Premise seems kind of random, I promise if you read the first 10 chapters you will be hooked. Magi is another good one also. Plus Green Blood. Not to forget Gamaran, an actual samurai manga with physics

Monster has a view "nude" scenes but very little. 20th Century Boys has even less. Liar Game has none at all (these are my favorites this far).

Only Monster has an anime out of these three however. Both 20th CB and Monster are already finished while the Liar Game is around chapter 170 and currently on hiatus.

Monster and 20th CB have a similar feeling IMO (well they're made by the same mangaka after all). I have two threads in the review corner for these in case you want a bit more information:

If you've ever read something like Gamble Fish or Kaiji then you'll know the general atmosphere of the LG series. The first volume or so is cool but I do say that it's more of an introduction arc to the real thing. The problem with this manga seems to be a rather low target audience.

20th Century Boys is great for using characters. It starts off amazing, and while I don't think some twists should have been made near the end I still have to respect it for what its worth. Again my thread dives a bit more into it.

Honestly the antagonist is what makes Monster good. A lot of things are open ended or left hazy so the reader can piece things together. Not everybody has the same take on the story. By the way, this speculation is aimed at the antagonist's backstory, as the main character slowly finds out more and more about his past.

Tower of God
Liar Game
Deadman Wonderland/Psyren
Steins;Gate\Darker than Black
Kuroko no Basket
Darker than Black\Steins;Gate
Clannad

This would be the order that I'd watch/read in. Tower of God is easy to read and amazing. Liar Game has awesome tricks and psychological shiz, although personally, I'd fit each arc around watching something else, as they can be a bit of a brain full with the explanations, strategies, tactics and what not. Deadman Wonderland is dark yet awesome, but I also included Psyren in there as it maintains a more serious mood, but it's far lighter than the slaughter filled DMW. Steins Gate has a pretty slow start, the first 13 or so episodes are pretty much revolving around character introductions, and fleshing out the basic theory behind time travel, with the story containing more sustenance starting and ending in the last 12 episodes. Clannad sucks, so I put it last. Everything that I didn't include, I haven't watched or read. Also, I might be biased as I prefer manga over anime. o_o

I'd hate to be that guy, but why don't you buy DVDs or manga?
"BUY ANIME?! AHHAHAHAHAHAHHAH"

But it is very useful for marathons and quality, not to mention cheap if you buy it from the right place. (You'll also be supporting the series and companies if you want a moral boost).

However, Pirate Sonic says that you'll probably find a looong torrent on Google somewhere, I found a download for A Certain Scientific Railgun in a matter of seconds but they were on a website intended for that specific series. (No, I'm not a hypocrite, I didn't download Railgun).

As for a suggestion, I recommend Kids on the Slope. It's an amazing series (with no fanservice). I also say Penguindrum is a good option. (Second quote in my sig has a link to my review). Finally, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi delivers as an anime and a manga, the manga is ongoing and the anime is complete with about 50 episodes.

Oh, and have a nice trip. :bye:

Now I got a bit of time, I can reply back to you all.

I'm not too worried about gruesome stuff. He is mature enough to handle blood and gore. I'm more worried about nudity and *** scenes. If it does, let me know.

I've seen a bit of Berserk. I just never had time to get into the series. I'll try it out. The other series you mentioned, would you recommend them over the list I said? I probably won't have time to read them all anyways, so which would you prefer in what order. Also, let me know if any nudity in any.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun isn't a bad one either and its finished as well.

What is it about? What kind of genre? Is it better then some of the ones I listed? What makes this a good manga/anime?

for anime/manga suggestion :
Gintama
Beelzebub
Toriko

I totally forgot about Gintama. This was another one I wanted to get into. The other two I'll wait on till I get back. I needed to put those in the not recommend list.

Again, thanks for the info.

I knew you would be able to help me out with these. I wanted to read these mostly because of You and Miles. This info was really helpful. I wish more people would take their time and respond like this. And yes, I read both of your reviews before.

Tower of God
Liar Game
Deadman Wonderland/Psyren
Steins;Gate\Darker than Black

Clannad

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to do this in that order. Quick question, is the anime for Steins;Gate better then the manga?

The reason I need them downloaded is because I don't have internet when I have to camp, or driving in the car for hours. I'll be able to charge my laptop because of the portable charger I have, so my reading material will keep me occupied when I don't have to drive. Most manga and anime is free online anyways, I'm just able to read it in a convenient manner.

As for supporting the author, I tend to read/watch something first for free, and if I really like it, I will buy it. basically a try and buy kind of deal.

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi I should have put in the not recommend list. I wanted to read this at a later point, although I hear it is a great series as well.

I've heard of kids on the Slope, but have no clue what it is about. Would you recommend it over some of the other series I mentioned?

the other I haven't ever heard of. I'll look at the review though.

And hopefully it will be a good trip.

All of the series on your list are ones I've really, really enjoyed with the exception of Black Lagoon (which I'm sure I'd like but simply haven't seen). As for my personal preference:

- 20th Century Boys/21st Century Boys
- Clannad/Clannad ~After Story~
- Liar Game
- Steins;Gate
- Fate/stay night, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero (Make sure to watch in this order, otherwise it seriously ruins the experience imo)
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Manga, supposedly 2012 anime is REALLY good but it only covers parts 1-2 and I only watched a few episodes so far. Do note that the manga is super long though, even longer than OP iirc)
- Monster (Manga, anime is supposed to be a faithful adaptation but obviously it's a lot longer than reading)
- Deadman Wonderland (Manga, anime is way too short)
- Kuroko no Basket (Anime, I'm sure the manga is awesome as well but I haven't read it yet)
- Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha, Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini, Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha Gaiden
- Tower of God

Damn, so much I could say about all of these but I'll try to be short since that's a lot:

20th Century Boys is my all-time favorite manga. Fantastic plot, great psychological/mystery element, VERY diverse character development, and just straight up awesome. If ever there were something I could call masterpiece, this would be it. It's a beautiful manga and I'm sad that I still haven't been able to buy the entire thing to re-read it.

Clannad is another one I'd deem to be a masterpiece. Very emotional, lots of character development, and some of the most profound themes I've seen in any series. In particular After Story is what makes Clannad so amazing, though I personally did give first season a 10/10 as well. It's truly moving and few series have touched me the way Clannad has.

Liar Game is also one I'd give a 10/10. It's weird because it doesn't even have a complex plot or fantastic character development (though there is some, don't get me wrong) but more than anything Liar Game rides on its psychological element. The wit battles and strategies in this series dwarf those of any other I've seen. People say Death Note is one of the most intelligent series, but I'd say that Akiyama (the male lead) is leagues smarter than every DN character combined. He's just that smart. It's very entertaining to read and truly enjoyable.

Steins;Gate is one of the best psychological sci-fi stories I've seen, also one of my few 10/10s. Wow, you asked for 4 of my 10s and have already seen 2 (er, 3 if you count Brotherhood, I gave FMA manga a 10 but Brotherhood a 9 for some reason). Anywho, Steins;Gate is great in that it starts off slow and more slice of life-ish but develops into a fantastic story that involves the entire cast in a brilliant way. The plot twists are great and the idea of the story is quite interesting. If you rewatch the first episode after finishing you can also tell it was planned brilliantly from the very start, which is quite a rarity.

Fate series is also one I really love, though not in my 10/10 range. That said, it's VERY close. Stay Night is pretty Shounen but has some interesting fights and a lovable, though not perfectly developed (at least in the anime) cast. Rin Tohsaka, my personal all time favorite character, comes from Stay Night. Unlimited Blade Works is a movie based off of the second route of the visual novel, focusing on Tohsaka as the female interest instead of Saber. It's more enjoyable than Stay Night in my opinion, BUT you have to watch Stay Night first or it'll feel very rushed and confusing as a 2 hour movie that does little explaining. GREAT fights though. Zero is a prequel that's much darker and more serious than the previous two. The beautiful thing about it is that you already know how it'll end (assuming you follow the order I give you) and yet it still has a very compelling story. There's lots of tragedy and it's a lot less about good/bad than Stay Night since it's more about ideals and clashing interests and that makes it interesting. There's less of a "main character" in Zero since the whole cast is crucial.

JoJo is one of my all-time favorite Shounens, though I haven't read it in a very long time and never did finish all the parts. It would probably be a 10/10 but it's been 3 years so I'm not so sure now. In any case, it's one of the manliest series I've ever seen and very fun. Part 1 isn't quite as great (though still very enjoyable) but it develops into a long, epic story detailing the adventures of the JoJo lineage. As far as I'm aware, there are 8 parts, all of which have a different protagonist, though I only saw up to 5. My favorite parts are 2 and 3 because of badassery and great fights, with part 2 having a lot of strategy. The whole thing is great though.

Monster is by the author of 20th CB and as such you can expect a glorious story from that. Just like 20th CB, it's very psychological and has a strong mystery element with fantastic development. It's a lot less sci-fi than 20th CB and if anything it's actually a lot more realistic for the most part, with more emphasis on history-related events. I didn't enjoy it as much as 20th CB but quite a few people out there actually prefer it. It's a great story in any case, I'd definitely recommend it.

Deadman Wonderland is also quite great. Reminds me a lot of Future Diary, if you've seen that one. The battle system is interesting because it uses the characters' blood for attacks, making for some unique fights. But more than that it has a very intriguing story of conspiracies, experiments, and a tragic past. It's close to ending so you might want to wait for the manga to be done before you start.

Kuroko no Basket, to put it in one word, is entertaining. It's not even that it has a great plot or amazing character development. Granted, I DO like the cast a good deal but it's not because they have god level depth. What I love about Kuroko is that it makes basketball really entertaining. I don't know about other people but I'm personally not a sports fan and don't care much to watch sports really. That said, Kuroko matches are VERY fun and over the top. It's like a Shounen action take on basketball and for some reason it's captivating to watch how the matches play out. For entertainment value alone I love it a lot.

Darker than Black is an interesting case. A lot of people love first season the most for its badassery and great fights, but that's actually my least favorite of the series. The story isn't too bad but much of it is episodic and thus it's hard to stay super interested in and character development wasn't as important as I would've liked. That said, it is very much fun to watch and quite badass. A lot of people disliked second season (mostly for being different from S1) but I actually preferred it because of the more urgent atmosphere of the story and the (in my opinion) superior character development in spite of being half as long. Not to mention the mystery sense is good because you don't know exactly what's going on. Lastly, watch the Gaiden, which takes place between the two seasons. It has the badass action of S1 combined with the urgent plot of S2, and if it weren't but a short OVA it might have been my favorite. Some people say to watch it before S2 but I watched in release order and I think it's better that way because it's more interesting seeing S2 without knowing the details and then later finding out.

Tower of God is one I actually got into recently at a friend's recommendation. It's interesting because it involves a lot of unusual competitions that I haven't seen in really any other series I've encountered. There's a lot of variety and the series develops its world a lot for reasons you'll understand once you start. There are also some very interesting twists and it's very much a fun read. That said, however, I couldn't get into it as much as a lot of other people have. There are indeed some awesome characters but only a few that I got really attached to. As for the story, it's a bit slow-paced in some ways because of much of it focuses on the events taking place at the time rather than a sort of big focus (besides, well, the whole aim for the top thing but that's not REALLY much of a plot) so it's not a super glorious plot in and of itself. But it's great fun.

Damn, so much for trying to be short. I tried to explain enough about each series to give you an idea without ranting. Problem is, well, that's a LOT of series. So I hope this is of some use to you. But in any case, these are all awesome series, each of which is at least an 8/10 in my book so I doubt you'll dislike any.
