Neji died, I think 3 other major characters are about to die.

Obviously if the character is adding or will add something to the story, they're not going to die. Most of the "good" character keep the story together. Without them, the story would be... "Iffy"... But what do you expect?.. A good story or people dying for no good reason? Personally, I'd prefer a good story. Killing off good guys isn't really all that important to me.

Neji is about as relevant as Moegi

I agree, atleast 2 kage should have died in the last incident

Raikage making Bee the new Raikage and probably Tsunade allowing Naruto to become Kage(Even tho he is still young and not that smart Kishi can pull some shit out of his ass) thus making the 2 Jinchuriki Kage and they unite the rest of the villages in one big happy family...

Tens of thousands of unnamed fodders have died, but that doesn't really count as anything...

So we have Neji, Shikaku, Ino's Dad, That FTG Girl from the cloud village, and thats all really...

Watch Shingeki no Kyojin and Hunter x Hunter and then come talk to me. ( they are both Shonen )

Personally, i'd prefer that the current (good) characters were not killed unless it provided great circumstance for plot such as Tsunade. I've seen these characters for a couple of years and i will admit, i have grown attached to them. I feel as though the atmosphere for war has already been established.

I will say though, i do watch Shingeki and Hunter X Hunter, and they both use death to great effect. While it does amplify the atmosphere for their particular contexts, i don't think it's as well suited for Naruto. In both of these Shonens, you are never really attached to the characters who die since they are not around for a prolonged period.

I watch both.
Attack on Titan are mainly Fodder deaths of characters that have only been around for a couple episodes.
The Same goes for Hunter X Hunter as well

This, Naruto is a children's story about how friendship is magic and never giving up. Its a feel good manga, you really get deaths in those kinds of stories.

OK then why did Jiraiya and Itachi die?

I live in Japan, and see people reading this manga everyday. It's mostly marketed within Japan, and no it isn't marketed to kids. It targets the 18-35 male demographic.

What saw2097 said... It's partially true.

I feel like this shounen manga would lose a lot of impact if there are deaths everywhere.

Being this a war, well, a lot of nameless ninja died already, and they are "good" too, so it's quite realist to say that this thread doesn't make sense at all.

Now, if you're referring to the main/secondary characters of the series... Neji died, the live beings in the Intel Headquarters died, we have a Kakashi that is in the verge of death, Tsunade was just saved, and nothing hints that the war is over. So keep waiting for news...

Tsunade surviving frankly makes no sense. If Karin's blood can heal that effectively then why did it take Sasuke a chapter to recover before? If Obito could use Rinnegan techniques like human path, why didn't they just kill Yamato and get intel on the alliance and Naruto's movements? Obviously Yamato knew the plans.

If Obito could use Rinne Tensei, why didn't he bring Rin back? Why would he use Mokuton against Naruto but not Kakashi? Why not send his body parts to the real world when fighting Kakashi? Why not use Shinra Tensei to smash Kakashi's face? Why compromise the enter plan and war? Why not sacrifice the Rinnegan eye and use Izanagi? Since it was Madara's, and Obito knew that, it must also have an EMS form.

Sorry guys, but plotholes are holes.... Bigger than that Wind Hole in obito's chest. Shitty writing is shit.
