Madara told obito to use the rinne tensei to revive him completely. (nagato used it to revive everyone he killed during his invasion of konoha; its also the reason why his hair had thinned and turned grey/white). Obito also admitted it would kill him if he used it (it also states that it kills the user on narutpedia). When madara ordered obito to use rinne tensei, obito used a hand sign. I think it is safe to say he was preparing to use it. If he is using rinne tensei knowing it will kill him; what good will come of it that will affect him??. He would be dead so really he cannot be in the eye of the moon plan. And as far as we know madara doesn't know edo tensei. So don't you think its a bit silly if obito did use it, but please correct me if there is something I am missing.

He wants to become the 10 tails jinchuuriki and to do that he must be completely revived rather than just a shell

He can only become the Juubi's Jinchuuriki when he's alive.

I guess one could assume he was playing along and acting as if he was going to revive Madara but in the end he was forced.

Or for now, he's being forced, he hasn't executed the Rinne Tensei yet.

2 mistakes. First, obito is being controlled by madara, so he not using edo tensei on his own will. Second, madara knows edo tensei, he used it on himself after kabuto's was released. That's it, obito is being controlled by madara via black zetsu and chakra rods, because madara wants ti become the juubi jinchuriki.

Thank you for the correction on madara knowing edo tensei. My mistake. And wouldn't madaras control only reach half of his body seeing as only half of obitos body is zetsu dna?

Since the other half of Obito's body is really weak from chakra exhaustion and being pierced by Kakashi, Black Zetsu can now overpower Obito's half and thus control him.
