Compare the sises of the mountains in the background. you will see that the mountains are smaller compared to Chibaku Tensei, than when compared to the shinsuusenju, and CT is therefore, larger than the shinsuusenju.

The preta path absorbs naruto's rasen shuriken, and doesnt turn into a stone frog. He only turned into the statue
when he absorbed narutos chakra strait from the naruto.

Gakido absorbs Chakra, the Mokuton isn't. The Mokuton isn't Chakra that took the form of trees, Hashirama sends his Chakra into the ground to convert them into a source of life from which real trees are created and controlled. The Mokuton Bunshin no Jutsu for example isn't the simple split of your Chakra, its the reproduction of the users own cells, making the clone more durable. Technically speaking, the whole Mokuton is based on Hashirama's DNA; so certain Mokuton techniques are working through accelerating the growth of his own cells. Thinking logical and considering databook statements, one wouldn't think the Mokuton can be absorbed.

As for the topic, Hashirama would destroy Pain even without the use of Sage Mode. He is the most versatile Ninja after Edo Madara, who got all powers from Uchiha and Senju and that on a very massive scale.

did you know that Susanoo is described as "The users Guardian deity" and Not chakra. Yet, madara absorbs his susanoo sword when Tsunade tries to stab him with it, even if it isnt "Chakra"

No matter how strong the Shinsuusenju is, it still has a hashirama on it. One good Bansho Tennin would pull hashirama off the shinsuusenju to his extremely graphic death along way below.

Wood clones are clearly weaker than the original, as show by the fact tht each of the 5 kages could take on 5 madara's without getting killed instantly. they shouldnt be too much trouble for the animal path summons, atleast to distract from the important bodys

Mokuton cannot crush the orbb, because it would simply be incresing the amount of fodder for the jutsu to absorb. Yaska matagma, rasen shuriken and Bijuudama werent crushed because they are pure chakra. the chibaku tensei is also almost a big as the shinsuusenju

Mokuton is REAL TREES. It's not like basic ninjutsu. Ninjutsu using chakra to administer the use of techniques. Hashirama's chakra allows him to control the Earth around him, use his chakra and administer life force creating REAL THINGS (Most prominently trees). Same applies to his Wood Clones. Look at 636. When everyone is using clones they are using Kage Bunshin and they "poof" beside them. Hashirama's literally CAME FROM HIS BODY. They are extensions of him and his cells, not just a Yin-Yang release based Ninjutsu. Nagato/Pein can try all they want to absorb the trees. They'll just be punctured and stomped by it. Hashirama in no way needs Sage Mode. Base Mode stomps.
