Chapter 636: The trash and the savior
Kakashi and Obito both cough blood with Demon Shuriken and Raikiri still through them.
Suddenly Obito smiles.
Obito: How foolish of you... did you really think I would be willing to die alongside a trash like you?
To Kakashi's shock, Obito's body slowly turns into wood. He then pushes the Shuriken further.
Kakashi: Ugh... Obito... you really have become powerful...
Before Obito could answer, Kakashi changes into lightning. Before both clones fully disappear, the combatants appear from underground on the opposite sides of the clones, jump above them and clash in mid-air - Obito tries to stab Kakashi with Mokuton: Sashiki, but Hatake counters it with Raikiri. Following these unsuccessful attacks, the two, still above the ground, push themselves away from each other and land separated by about 10 metres.
Obito: Still foolish! You can't compete against the power I possess! Mangekyo, Rinnegan, Mokuton, immortal body... I have been hiding in Madara's shadow until now, but look - currently not even he stands above me! I am THE SAVIOR, I will succeed where Madara failed! Don't worry, Kakashi, I am capable of repairing this rotten reality. Still doubt me?
Obito performs hand seals.
Obito: Then I'll let you taste this power for yourself! Mokuton Hijutsu: Jukai Kōtan!
Trees start sprouting from the ground and "fly" towards Kakashi.
Kakashi: (This is bad. No fire technique could possibly deal completely with such amount of First Hokage's wood. This won't be good for my chakra, but...)
Kakashi makes a hand seal and creates four shadow clones very close to him.
Five Kakashis: Katon: Karyūdan!
Five large flames are sent towards the wood wave at the point exactly in front of Kakashi. The wave passes next to Kakashi form both of his sides, but not from the front due to the katon. While Kakashi and his clones continue with their attack, struggling to fend off the powerful wood technique, Obito uses Kamui to appear behind Kakashi with Demon Shuriken, ready to stab him again once and for all. Before he makes it, another Kakashi's clone jumps out from the ground with Raikiri.
Obito: (Shit! Phasing is dangerous now with a battle raging on the other side, but I have no choice.)
Raikiri passes through him, but forces Obito to cancel his earlier attempt of attack.
The real Kakashi suddenly turns away from the wood wave and looks at (or through) Obito without him realizing. Just as the wood breaks through the now weakened fire defense, Kakashi hides himself underground. All five of Kakashi's clones are destroyed by the wood and Obito phases through it. When the dust from the skirmish falls again on the ground, Obito finds himself alone, but notices a hole in the ground. He then proceeds to speak loudly, making sure Kakashi can hear him.
Obito: How long are you going to play this pointless hide-and-seek game, Kakashi? You're struggling to keep yourself alive, yet you think of defeating me? Don't make me laugh! We're both trash. But I've found a way of cleansing myself! I was generous enough to offer salvation to you as well, yet you refused it.
He then begins to walk slowly, looking around, as if expecting a sudden attack coming.
Obito: Perhaps you like being a trash, Kakashi? Maybe you've grown fond of the evil and cruelty this world is filled with? That's how you've always been, anyway. Merciless scum who doesn't care about anyone. Trying to cloud my judgement with your beautiful lies.
A mud dragon stops the speech of Obito, but he effortlessly cuts it in half with Sashiki. To his surprise, however, just when he did that, he saw Kakashi rushing at him with Raikiri. Obito makes a fast hand seal to form a wooden shield, through which Raikiri managed to break, but which gave Obito enough time to dodge the attack. Uchiha then quickly launches a counter-attack with a punch, but Kakashi does the same. The two stop each other, Kakashi catching Obito's hand at the wrist and Obito capturing Kakashi's fist.
Kakashi: I was like this, that's true. But I've changed - I've changed thanks to you! Why can't you see this?
Obito: Enough talk. Farewell, Kakashi.
Kakashi is suddenly pushed away by Obito's kick who then charges caught off-guard Kakashi with Sashiki and strikes his heart with it. However, Obito's expression changes from sinister smile to that of great shock when his hand goes inside Kakashi's chest as well, and then his whole body goes through. Surprised Obito lands behind Kakashi and quickly turns around to see Kakashi's tired, but calm, face.
Obito: It's not possible... how did you... ah. I see.
Obito recalls the moment of phasing through Kakashi's clone and realizes what Kakashi has done.
Obito: The same eye... I should have expected that... copy ninja.
Kakashi: We're both equal trash. No one will win.
Kakashi recalls Naruto's statement that both him and Sasuke will die if they fight.
Kakashi: The time has come for us, Obito.
Kakashi activates two Raikiri in both hands and Obito prepares Demon Shuriken in one hand and Sashiki in the other.
