Five years have passed since my apprenticeship began. . . . . .
Lying still in the darkness I honed in on all the small details of my environment. The wind brought me the distinct smell of explosive paper bombs discreetly placed south of my position. My ears picked up the quick shuffle of branches as my enemy dashed to conceal himself. Too late, I picked up his scent and had already distinguished him from everything else. No, this was different. He deliberately left his scent on a wooden doll. Creatively good thinking but I would not fall for such an old trick. My nose is too good for that.
*He knows im tracking him by scent*
The thought ran through my head. His exact position was still a mystery. I expanded the range of land where I last smelled him. Still he could not be found. This was a jounin level shinobi.
*Damn. Ok stay calm if hes not around here then that means. . . . . . . He is below ground!Beneath me!!*
I jumped up adding chakra to my feet to jump higher just as he emerged from beneath to attack me. At that very moment I let off a poisonous mist that engulfed him and his underground tunnel. He fell dumb as a rock with his nervous system left in shatters. Another mission successfully accomplished. With the objective alive and well for 'advanced interrogation'. I smiled at the thought of retrieving the information by tomorrow night. Right now I had to make sure he didnt try to make any sudden moves and I laughed at my own humor. As I walked towards him I felt a searing pain on my back and neck.
"Kunais!?but how?!" There was no time to asses the damage for in that moment my body gave under me and I fell dead on the floor.
