Hy, fellow NarutoBase members. Can I have your attention, please. =D
I see that on other forums there are often Popularity Polls. So I was thinking, why not on NarutoBase? This is one of the biggest western Naruto sites so... I will gladly be the organizor, since I have experience with something like this. Cosman and Tim Jamison will help me when I am too busy (and also double check everything). Of course everything will happen 100% fair.
Each poll will take 3 full days (and ofc can you vote on each poll, each character), each time with 3 new characters. It will take around 2-3 months to see who's the most popular character on NarutoBase!
It will be me, Cosman or Tim who will start with a new poll, also when we all 3 agree. Then everything is under control.
I only want to ask: please don't create huge shitstorms, respect each others opinion and don't make dupes. You will be caught since I will make the polls public. When being caught being a dupe, you will be banned. Which is only normal!
Also please be honest when you vote. Do you like the character or not?
Some people will have a lot of work with this, so please understand this.
Why not make one major thread?
Even if we were to make one thread, there is a limit to how many characters we can put in. And even if we made it a multi-vote thread, it does not encourage others to vote for all characters. This does not really gauge popularity. By giving each character their own thread where people can vote, people would be given the opportunity to properly assess each individual character they choose to vote for. This is a much more better approach at getting a feel for a character's popularity here on the base.
What is CB and is it an issue?
CB (character bashing) is intentionally insulting or poking fun at a character. This is prohibited on this site and is certainly punishable. The idea behind the rule is to ensure that needless conversations with little substance are not carried out. Because it is prohibited on this site, it is prohibited here. Please be as understanding to others as you can be. Back up all comments you make about a character with specific facts if possible.
This is CB: _______ is a loser and should die.
This is not CB: ______ is underdeveloped and has not met my expectations.
When giving a vote please refrain from using racist, homophobic, or derogatory terms of any kind. This will ensure that the discussions are kept constructive and do not escalate into flame wars.
This also applies to pairings. If a character is romantically linked to any character please take those discussions to the "shipping" page in the discussion section.
What is spam? Is it an issue?
Spam is the indiscriminate usage of messages and posts. This means posts that do not add to the discussion. This also means excessive messages like double posting. Please make edits to your original posts if you would like to add something. This includes conversations about OTHER characters. You may discuss with others in the section, but please keep it to the character that is being polled.
This is a popularity poll so leaving answers like (10/10 ... 10 chars) is in fact an issue. This is more or less the same as to leave a ten vote and not message at all. If you do wish to leave a message PLEASE add some substance to it.
These are the characters who will get a poll. It will go like this, alphabetical.
It's three threads every two or three days. And the threads can be immidiately closed when the poll itself closes. This section gets very little traffic regardless and the theory threads wouldn't be affected at all.
Edit: and if those specific threads don't get bumped then they die off anyways. Meaning the least popular characters wouldn't exactly be hamming up the section.
