Why do people use naruto wiki as a source?

Seriously everyone in debates likes to use "but the naruto wiki sez dis" when they are talking about something that the manga doesn't state like are these regular people supposed to have secret knowledge kishi confided in them that he didnt put in the manga

I never use wiki as a source but I guess its easier to use wiki than go around looking for manga chapters, wiki is not the best source there is but is not always wrong like many people think.

I mean as in people using things naruto wiki says that their writers interpret from the manga but isn't neccesarily true

Some people, such as myself, aren't always in positions where they can scour the chapters looking for their evidence. I simply use the wiki to find the particular page and chapter I need, since it does cite sources.

I use the wiki to find the sources of my manga facts, its easier than going through entire chapters just for 1 scan.

If something is confirmed in the manga, & the wiki states it then it will have a citation next to it. When looking at facts I always click on that citation & trace it back to the appropriate chapter. Anything else is just made up by the editor.

I don't know. Unless messed up on purpose i 've never really seen any problems with the site when I'm looking up character info. But I'd never use it for evidence.

It's not the fact that wiki can be edited. Even if you use Naruto wiki, most of the info they have on there is right, and it's cited on a naruto page. So why not use it. It's like saying if you made a project saying why President Kennedy died, it's completely and utterly wrong. When in reality, you likely used actual sources as to why he died. While your paper might not include every detail known to Kennedy's death, it's still filled with some factual evidence that will prove your point.

You can't count Naruto wiki out unless it's obviously not true, which is simply found out by searching the manga, or checking its sources :|
