all the paths except the main one arent a problem and even the main cuz 5 seconds are waaay to much time for itachi to kill him, lets face it hes just rly rly fast, I mean noone can even see his hand signs. and not only genjutsu hes talented in ninjutsu and taijutsu and above all amaterasu and susanoo with the legendary weapons

Pein is designed to win against large numbers of weaker enemyes but strong individuals could kill him

I agree. I think it depends on the circumstances, such as how much Itachi really knows about Pain's abilities, and how weakened by disease Itachi is (also because his eyesight was pretty bad by then). Either way I think at the very least, Itachi could take out at least half the Paths. I mean the Rinnegan is the most powerful of all the ocular doujutsu, and fighting multiple Paths at once is a challenege even if you know their secrets...but let's face it. Itachi is a freakin' genius, very skilled, very smart, and good with strategies. There's also the fact that he was apparently too stubborn to be killed by anything but his brother's hand. ;)
This.

Against Nagato with all of the paths in one body, Itachi loses 70/100 times.

Against the 6 paths of pain, he has a far better chance. With Amaterasu, he can hit paths that aren't Preta Path, and we know that reparation is costly.

However, due to his massive techniques, Deva Path poses a problem. As far as we know, Itachi has no counter to Chibaku Tensei. I also don't believe he would have one for the ultimate Shinra Tensei.

Also, Nagato has greater stamina, which would be important. He could hide his path that revives the others, and thus just keep on coming, and eventually wear Itachi out. Of course, if one of the paths gets sealed, it would be trouble, but since Nagato has 5 more, he could still keep on the pressure, this time with knowledge to avoid the sword.

Also, I would like to mention that capturing 1 path in Tsukiyomi is very likely to NOT capture the others or Nagato himself. If that were the case, then Itachi could have used Tsukiyomi on one of Nagato's paths when they fought while Nagato was busy with Naruto and Bee. But he didn't. I believe ocular genjutsu ONLY works on that who's eye is DIRECTLY connected to the brain, and is not sharing sight with chakra rods.

Also, Nagato could possibly use his sensing rain and fight with that instead. But I think I am right about my point above.

Overall, this would be immensely close. I give it to Nagato, 50-55/100 times.

Pain would win for several reasons. First of all 6 vs 1 and we can see in the manga that nagato has some knowledge about Itachi's abilities since he can tell that he is using amaterasu just based on his chakra pressure. More importantly is 6 vs 1 and both in his prime and alive, Itachi 99% sure would not even know that nagato was hidden controlling the bodies remotely. Moreover, Pain's eyes were formely the Eternal Mangekyo of Madara (since he transplanted them into Nagato) which evolved to Rinnegan. So he would not get caught on an occular genjutsu for sure. He evolved the eyes of the strongest Uchiha character ever (im not considering rikudou's son). He was caught thanks to listening to the frog's song and it took very long. Also, he can just close his eyes and use the other bodies or the summonings to avoid looking to Itachi's eyes even though he was vulnerable. And so what tsukyomi in one body the other ones attack. Pain can even hide his body that revives the rest of the bodies and keep fighting. Then, Itachi would be forced to use Susanoo permantly, otherwise Banshoo tein and the fight was over. Keep in mind that Itachi used tsukyomi on Kakashi, then on Sasuke and then amaterasu on the walls of the frog of Jiraya and he was already feeling a bit exhausted. Pain invaded konoha alone, destroyed the whole village, ressurected his bodies many times, fought with sennin naruto, fought with 6 tails, used the chibaku tensei and still he had chakra to revive everyone in the village. And amaterasu on Pain, the fat one would just run and absorb it or shinra tensei if it was the main body,. And remember, Itachi always used Tsukyomi as first ability of his Mangekyo, why didnt he used it on Nagato? Finally, a full health pain would do a chibaku tensei so huge that Itachi would be locked immediatly. And also he could summon the gedou mazou, and that spiritual dragon that would kill anyone it touches. And since is spectral i seriously doubt that Itachi would be able to counter it with Susanoo. The chakra advantage and stamina of Pain is too big for an Uchiha other than Madara to cope with.. If tsukyomi catches Rinnegan, than Itachi would beat Rikudou or Madara as well and it starts to get ridiculous.

These are two very formidable ninja and are easily the Strongest of the Akatsuki. We must explore the reasons to why one might win and the other might lose to get a clear understanding of the hypothetical battle. I will divide each portion of their skills for a better analysis.

How would a Brawl workout? Well first, Itachi will start off with his Basic Katon Jutsu, Nagato will counter with one of his Pain's using Suiton. After a clearing, Itachi will realize the Pain's Powers. He will also realize that he has large chakra reserves and go head in. He will use Tsukuyomi on the Deva Path. Nagato will simply stop channeling chakra to the Deva Path and let it fall. The Tsukuyomi will do nothing to him and then Naraka can revive him back. Itachi will take a while to heal back. Next is Amaterasu, which will hit the Naraka with the newly gained knowledge of it's abilities. Preta can't counter it due to the speed of the fire. Lacking the Will-Power that he had during his fight during Sasuke, he won't be able to draw a line of Amaterasu.

Realizing that he needs his trump card to win, he pulls out Susano'o. Preta runs to it before it gets time to recharge into it's second form and begins absorbing the chakra. Itachi swings the Preta Path away and Itachi is exhausted already. Susano'o engages the other paths and Deva Paths uses a Chou Shinra Tensei knocking the "wind" out of Itachi and leaving him striken with exhaustion. Animal Paths summons a plethora of animals to fight Susano'o and each time one is sealed, another is summoned. This will leave Itachi in a state that he is unable to hold it up, if he isn't blind already. Then Pain can use a simple Bansho Ten'nin stab or a Chibaku Tensei to win.

In Ninjutsu, Pain is clearly the winner. The Rinnegan allows him to use all 5 Basic Transformations, use the Rikudo Jutsu and it's sub-jutsu etc. Itachi has the Katon, Suiton, Mangekyo Tech and some random stuff he might've copied. This can't compare to Pain who also has the Gedo Mazo. In Genjutsu, Itachi is clearly the winner and others dispute that this is Nagato's weak-point that Itachi will penalize on. But no, Genjutsu only works on bodies with a brain. Pain's are dead corpses. In addition, Nagato would just stop sending chakra to a Pain to stop the Genjutsu. Then Naraka can revive the fallen Pain. Taijutsu is an almost equal footing. Itachi is skilled but lacks strength to hurt Pain which is pivotal to his loss in this as well. The Deva won't let him get close enough to engage the Pain's in Taijutsu. Nor will the Asura who will keep Itachi on his feet. Also, the Preta Path has been shown to be a near-match to a Sennin Mode Naruto which is easily above Itachi in Taijutsu.

Intelligence is a one that seems like Itachi will win. He is clearly one of the smartest characters in the story, if not the smartest one but a lot of his intelligence is in relation to being Hokage etc. however, I will hand Itachi the victory but he cannot out-wit someone as strong as Nagato. Stamina.. I'm not going to say anything. For Strength and Speed look at Taijutsu. Hand Seals will not be the turning point in this fight as Nagato through the Animal Paths is nearly as fast as Itachi and the Rinnegan enchances perception allowing Pain to see Itachi's hand movements. Also, the speed is generally in relation to Katon techniques in which Itachi has to take a huge breath to use anyways. Nagato isn't a clear winner but nor is Itachi in this.

Pain wins.
