No he could not have dodged it his snake was too slow, also he did not know Itachi possessed the Totsuka blade.

Might Gai so foolishly believing that by staring at Itachis feet to avoid any form of visual genjutsu will be his downfall. This leaves him susceptible to finger genjutsu and Amaterasu. Also, there is no doubt in my mind that Hirudora and Morning Peacock will be tanked with the combined effort of the Yata Mirror and Complete Susano'o.

I firmly believe Gai can defeat Itachi high difficulty.

He can counter genjutsu by not looking into his eyes.

He can avoid amaterasu with his speed in gates.

Afternoon tiger would destroy Itachi's Susano'o.

1.he cant avoid amateratsu because he is not fasater than A(raikage)
2.he alredy tried afternoon tiger on susanoo and it didnt do shit to weaker version.
3.itachi has Yata Mirror-reflect any attack
4. Sword of Totsuka -seals away any opponent
5-if you join Yata Mirror with susano defence than not even 8 gates would put a scratch.
6. in conclusion gai is raped so bad that is not even funny.

The Hirudora is so weak that it couldn't even kill a weakened Kisame. It won't destroy Itachi's V4 Susanoo, let alone the Yata Mirror.

Using another example to try and prove me wrong when V2 has already tanked something stronger than Hirudora? Unless you think Hirudora>Kirin.

The bold is merely an assumption, not to mention feats dictate that with Baku's suction powering it up, it is (No matter how unbelievable you think it is), as it was able to get past a V3 Susanoo's defenses, while Kirin (Stronger than Hirudora) was blocked by a V2 Susanoo but was obliterated in the process.

V2 Susanoo will take moderate damage, but Itachi can just fix that after the blast. There is no way that Hirudora is getting past Itachi's V2 Susanoo and killing him, to suggest such would be saying Hirudora>Kirin, and that is false.

It traveled over to his location, doesn't make it instant.

Not taking any sides here, but it's sort of obvious that Danzo's wind styled jutsu was meant to be a piercing technique. Hirudora isn't exactly a piercing technique. Not saying it can't, just saying that Danzo used a jutsu made to pierce, whereas Hirudora exactly. . Isn't.
