Bee was fairly useful until the Juubi came out; And even then he was trying to keep himself in the spot light by attacking the Juubi. . He isn't useless. He's just not plot important right now so he isn't being shown doing anything.

As of late he hasn't really done much except act like a shield to a juubidama, so pretty useless at this point. However, prior to that he did inflict some major damage to the juubi by making its TBB implode in itself
