shouldnt i have been more powerful? i expected a big hole in the juubi or atleast change the landscape...

Its a combo jutsu so the outcome is expected to be different. Like this wind enhances fire therefore the wind in th RS makes the black flames stronger and gives it a surikken shape while the rassengan makes it spin really fast.

the wind element of rasen shuriken ended up enhacing the flames of ametarasy [ technically it got completely used up in increasing the power and destructive capability of ametarasu]

u could relate it to catalyst that get used up in chemical rections by enhancing the speed with which equilibrium is reached=D

catalyst is never ultimately used in the reaction. Better relate to a candle.
