[Discussion] Luffy's eternal enemy ?

By eternal enemy I mean the relationship Garp and Roger had. In the beginning that role seemed to belong to Smokey and he still is one of the main candidates for the position but what about Coby ? He has not yet appeared in the manga except the movie and we don't know how powerful he is now? Do you think he could fight Luffy equally once in the near future?

Some think it's Smoker, some think it's Coby, to me it's Smoker, he's the one who has been chasing Luffy wherever he goes, he's the one who's on his level now and will continue to be imo. Coby rarely appears, and when he does he's more of a friend who's in the marines.

Coby will be incredibly strong opponent EoS, but I doubt he will be become the new Garp. That role will probably go to Smoker or someone like Blackbeard/Akainu

It's Smoker, I mean Garp was described as a menace to pirates and that's how Smoker is known to most of the new generation of pirates.

I can't stand it when people say that Luffy and Coby have the same relationship that Roger and Garp have purely because the one thing everyone seems to forget is Roger and Garp where enemies not friends like Luffy and Coby.

Now lets look at Smoker, Garp was known by the navy and pirates for chasing Roger and fighting him and so far Smoker is also well known for fighting Luffy (Marineford) but the most important thing is Luffy and Smoker aren't friends there enemies who respect each other, also Garp was constantly pursuing Roger like Smoker is with Luffy.

The problem is Coby isn't respected by pirates or well known like Smoker is and both Smoker and Garp have the same ideals in justice.

Personally, I think it'll be Smoker in the end. He's been chasing Luffy since the beginning of the series, and I don't think that will change.

The only one Luffy is trying to reach at the moment is Shanks, so I would call him his eternal rival. If it weren't for the fact that Luffy has surpassed Smoker, I would say that he would be his rival. But he has, and Coby is probably still too far behind.

Thats exactly why i made this post because it has to be Smokey as he fights him without mercy, he used a strong enemy (I said used because he has never thought after TS luffa so we cant tell). They respect each other and have acknowledged each other as a good opponent.

I'm sure it will be, Smoker. I bet, Coby is a vice admiral by now or just something near that rank. It would be a shame if he wasn't.
