yes....itachi wanted to push sasuke to the edge and being sick he would have wanted to do it as easily and without strain as possible.....so he tried to keep him in the tskyomi and not have to fight and push his already ****ed up body

but sasuke broke it so he had to fight and he almost lost for real ( imo iitachi could have ended him obviously but in the end he was really pushed pretty hard by sasuke)
