he lost to
- madara at some point in the past given he always had to leave him to hashirama despite tobirama having more of a grudge and reason to fight
- hashirama when he couldnt become clan leader
- kinkaku and ginkaku in the coup despite 2nd raikage and jounins helping him
- 20 jounins in the forest
- 69 year old one foot in the grave hiruzen. compare that to nagato's equally handicapped edo but still being able to assrape people. and hashirama's

izuna was distracted, cheapshotted and didnt have his sharingan activated due to likely being already almost blind. and who siad he was second to madara thats actually reliable? no one. no one cared.
