Sai's interesting. He seems to have some kind of personal motive for getting involved in other people's interpersonal relationships. I think he said it before, that he would help Naruto out (instead of carrying out his mission to kill Sasuke) because he wanted to know more about this thing called a "bond." What does he want? He sure thinks about Team 7 a lot. I don't remember that Sai was ever told what Naruto's promise to Sakura was, but he witnessed the two of them talking about The Promise when they met in the Iron Country so maybe he does.

At some point if Naruto hasn't taken advantage of the fact that the Promise is fulfilled, maybe Sai will be the one to remind everybody about it or something. He's still a character who hasn't had a chance to shine in the current battle. I don't think his talk at the end of 633 counts because it was more like he was the device for exposition and it was not a moment of character development (for those of you who think that panel time is character development).

And when naruto was complimenting sakura when she fell from a tree because her arm was injured from the ninetails. She had a bright smile on her face.
