Trees pass by through the breeze of each jump from branch to branch, the squad of three, dressed in an attire designated especially for the ANBU black ops of Konohagakure. The three uniforms were the same, you can only tell them apart from their sizes and the masks they wear. They stop on a branch each, further in front is the squad leader.
Squad Leader : Konoha.... there it is.
Squad Member 1 : The new Hokage's head looks great.
Squad Member 2 : Naruto Uzumaki. It's about god damn time.
They all jump down from their trees; meeting together in a circle, crouched in a clearing in the forest. The squad leader takes out a small scroll from his pouch and lays it on the ground in front of them, rolling it out tp reveal a map of the outskirts of Konoha.
Squad Leader : You know the mission, we need to scout the outskirts and protect Konoha when it's vulnerable in the middle of this important event.
Squad Member 2 : What are we expecting to come across?
Squad Leader : Nothing at all, Hoshimaru (Squad Member 2).
Hoshimaru's build is small, smaller than the average adult, but he is tough and his hair is yellow and spikes back from his face, his mask has a curved beak and two green stars on each cheek with purple dots in the middle.
Squad Leader : Yaji (Squad Member 1), you scout ahead.
Yaji : Roger that.
Yaji takes off to the trees and flies passed them. Her mask is that of a cat's, the two green stripes going down the mask and through the eye holes, coming back out to carry on down the cheeks, there is also one red stripe going down the middle of them ending at the tip of the cat mask's nose. Her hair was brunette and tied up into a ponytail.
Hoshimaru : So, nothing at all eh?
Squad Leader : Yeah.
Hoshimaru : Fox (Squad Leader), that means we're doing this, just in case anything pops up. Is that what the ANBU have been reduced too?
Fox : This is very important, the Hokage is with two other kages in there and if enemies slip passed, they're in danger. That's what we need to prevent. Lets go meet up with Yaji.
Fox quickly shoots off into the trees towards the direction his team mate went, Fox's mask being in the shape of a Fox, two green stripes leek from the eyes of it and two sets of three green painted spikes point into the middle of the mask on each side of the mask. Hoshimaru clenches his fists and jumps on after Fox, quickly catching up with him and then slowing down his pace to stay equal with his leader's.
Fox : Yaji!
Fox shouts as he gets closer to her location, but hearing no reply he shouts once more with a little irritation in his voice.
Fox : Yaji!!?
Fox stops a couple of seconds after shouting for her again on a tree branch, not seeing her around anywhere. Hoshimaru lands on a branch on Fox's right soon after.
Hoshimaru : Shouldn't she be here?
Fox doesn't reply and crouches on his branch, scouring the proximity to find his teammate. He spots something on the ground 15 meters below him, it is a Tantō which belongs to Yaji.
Fox : *Thinking : This is impossible, I heard no struggle or see it neither, it looks like she just disappeared* YAJI!!!!!!!
Hoshimaru : Fox....I-I found her.
Fox turns his head to Hoshimaru to see him facing the other way and staring at something, his frozen stance implies he is shocked and so Fox turns around to see what he can see. And there she is. Yaji. She is impaled against a tree they just passed, impaled by many long black metal rods through her torso and arms, and one of the metal rods stood out, it was all white and ran straight through Yaji's forehead, the mask was broken in half and hung from her face, only her sad cyan blue eyes could be seen, and blowing in the breeze on the end of the rod was a tag, but this was no simple taunting message, this was an explosive one; the tag sets alight and burns the paper until it iss nothing, exploding along with other tags wrapped around the metal rods, destroying Yaji's body. Fox and Hoshimaru had already jumped back away from the tree so they didn't get caught by wooden debris.
Hoshimaru : SHIT!! Not Yaji!
Hoshi turns to Fox, the mask covering up his facial expression, but it was obviously flourished with anger as his speech indicates aggression.
Hoshimaru : I thought there was nothing to expect!? Where the hell are the shinobi responsible!?
Fox : Calm down Hoshimaru, we'll find them. Don't wor-
Fox's speech was cut short and his eyes under his mask were wide, he flinches back from the sudden sight. Hoshimaru now had a metal rod through his stomach and he was clutching it tightly, blood trickles through the gaps of his fingers.
Hoshimaru : Sh-shit...F-fox....
Hoshimaru falls from his branch and lands face down onto the ground, the metal rod in his stomach kind of breaking his fall.
