If Naruto Sasuke and Sakura are the top 3 for a new Hokage, I pick.......

Sorry, Guy shouldn't be Hokage. He's awesome and stupidly strong but his personality doesn't work. He's too eccentric and wants to help everyone directly, he couldn't sit at a desk and hand out missions- he'd just want to do them all himself :')

It's between Naruto & Sasuke- everybody knows it.

I honestly don't think it would be between Naruto & Sasuke and it would most likely end up a 2-man race. I'll explain:

What is the main purpose of a Kage? I can make an analogy to a President of the U.S. or I can use Tsunade during the Pain invasion or Minato and the Kyuubi attack... and what do all of these have in common? They did what was in the best welfare of every villager, shinobi, etc...

The best candidates would be Shikamaru or Kakashi. Mainly because they are now the 2 smartest Shinobi in Konoha and the best tacticians. Yes they both have that somewhat laid-back trait, but this works to their advantage because once again they do not lose their cool. Look at the examples I listed above: Minato never lost his cool.... in fact he was able to sacrifice his own son (WHO WAS BORN THAT NIGHT) to a life of pain and negativity because he knew it was the best option for everyone. Tsunade knew that going after Pain would be futile...so instead she pretty much did the best possible thing and I truly believe is the unsung hero because her healing and communication abilities allowed the village to last as long as it did before Naruto got there, otherwise that village is destroyed for good.

Naruto and Sasuke are by far and away the 2 most powerful options, but that would be the ONLY advantage they have over Shikamaru or Kakashi. The latter are: smarter, MUCH better leaders, calm under pressure, better strategists, wiser, and so on. Use any example you want using a former Hokage/Kage: We can look at the 3rd Raikage and Tobirama. They sacrificed themselves, so that their respective teams could escape. From what we have seen thus far, Naruto would probably do this....I don't think Sasuke is. Sasuke can't think for himself let alone run an entire village...which brings me to my next point. Naruto or Sasuke delegating? That is what a Kage does 99% of the time and unselfishly at that. The only reason Sasuke even brought up being the next Hokage was either too fool everyone into trusting him or bringing the Uchiha to what it was and higher.

I can go on and on but I think or hope my point has come across. And just to throw all 4 in one of the situations aforementioned but using the characters today with their skill-set/techniques: Pain/Nagato attacks the village in the same fashion he did last time. Naruto and Sasuke we know are going to try and fight when in reality it would be best for Naruto to do exactly what Tsunade did and heal, support, etc... Sasuke is probably going to fight as well cause well there really is nothing else he would be better suited doing....Kakashi and Shikmaru are right away forming strategies and would be 3-4 steps mentally in the right direction as opposed to Naruto or Sasuke.

If I had to throw in a 3rd name it would be Neji, but he is dead. And either way we all know Naruto is the next Hokage and to be honest I think he would do extremely well, but Sasuke does not belong in the top 3, 4, or even 5.

What if Naruto changed the rule and they both ended up Hokage. Like the elders, what would you think of that?
(Black Ops is a nice back up but then we have to fear about a Hiruzen/Danzo issue again.)

I like the idea. but the theory collapsed on itself when you said the Hiruzen/Danzo thing was an "issue". If anything, that is the best way to do it and I believe even the Elders, their own teammates, had said this to Kakashi when he had been chosen as the next Hokage. Danzo was able to get a lot of things done successfully that could only be done his way that if Sarutobi tried to do it would fail or couldn't because he couldn't be attached to such things as a Kage. Look at what was going to be the Uchiha coup. Saru can't just give the okay for Itachi to wipe out an entire clan, he had to seek peaceful alternatives even when he knew they didn't exist. Luckily, there was already Itachi who oddly enough shared the same ideology as Danzo (a shinobi working from the shadows instead of out in the open for the glory and such) and I'm sure Danzo doing what he did to Shisui, Itachi's best friend and mentor, made Itachi's decision even the slightest bit easier (for lack of a better word)

Also, I don't think either one of them are the type to "share the limelight" =D

If Kishi keeps up with team 7 mimicking the sanin Sasuke will be passed over cuz of his hunger for power and naruto will decide to not be hokage and just roam the world doing do good deeds and making friends which will leave Sakura as hokage by default just like tsunade.

I don't mind naruto roaming the world meeting people and doing good deeds but Sakura as hokage kills me!
I don't think she has done enough to be hokage.
