some of you may not remember this but back in part 1 a meeting between the akatsuki members went down and one of them mentions how the akatsuki as a whole only has 3 years to get the job done? why do you think specifically 3 years?

I think it was referring to how Orochimaru couldn't reincarnate himself within Sasuke for three years. With all of his knowledge of the inner workings and ambitions of Akatsuki, Orochimaru with the sharingan would prove to be an immense obstacle for them to overcome. I think Nagato was simply seeing a brief window where they would face the least amount of resistance. I don't believe it was a literal sense in which he said they only had three years, I think he was just referring to their window of opportunity. (+ rep for the find though)
