Imagine all of those Zetsus imitating Obito's abilities. Obito would definitely have won this war zero diff.

Plot? How about self gratification? If I want to kill a man, I'm going to kill him. I'm not going to pay someone else to kill him because I have self pride and it's that pride is one o the reasons I'm even killing a man. Obito wanted to do things himself. Using the name Madara sounds like a contradiction, but in the end, he didn't even really want to reveal himself. Self gratification. As long as he knew it himself, he felt good.

Something I'd have liked even more would have been if he would have had Zetsu turn into any of the deceased Akatsuki. After all, he had Zetsu eat most of them I think, so they would most likely have their DNA.
