the hokages put a barrier around the juubi, the juubi was being held down by hashirama's gates, the purpose of the barrier was to stop the juubi's attacks
and it successfully stopped the attack

even though the kyuubi was being held down by kushina's chains minato put up a barrier
the fact that minato thought that the barrier was enough and the fact that hiruzen couldnt get in tells us that the barrier must be very powerful

Yeah it can, it was a uzumaki barrier most likely and they had the power and jutsu to control the nine tails.

It's hard to say one way or the other, but the way the manga's trending it probably could tank a tbb. It's probably the reason he used the barrier.

He notes that he needs to put a barrier up, but internally knows that his chakra is low, possibly to low.

Then kushina hears him and says that "she can still fight" and commences to restrain karuma.


The barrier puts chains on karuma's body, as well as makes a spherical shape around a large area.

It looks like the chain in the corner converges with the ground where the barrier seems to start. (top right corner panel)


And finally, this is the only seal that minato made after he noted that he wanted to put up a barrier. There where no time skips or scene changes, he took no action to make the barrier what so ever.

i dont think thats minatos he never did anything that implies he put a barrier up i believe its kushinas as the barrier is formed around the chains

and for how strong the barrier is i believe it could take kuramas tbb but manly i think the barrier was to keep others from getting in but i dont think it could take juubis tbb

That barrier isn't Minato's it is Kushina who setup the Barrier & Minato can use a barrier that can bind 9 tails but he didn't use that bcoz he is almost run out of chakra........

That was Kushinas barrier any further speculation is fanfiction.

If I had to guess how strong it would be it might have been powerful enough to hold down Kyuubi or not... He was in a desperate situation so either way he would have tried even if it failed. Saying it would tank a TBB is overrating imo.

Kushina is an Uzamaki, you know those people with strong powerful chakras, especially Kushina who's chakra was stated powerful enough to hold the Kyuubi. Who said those chains were seperate from the barrier you have no proof just mere speculation. May I remind you there whole clan was revolved around sealing jutsus for tailed beast and powerful entities like the Kyuubi.

You have nothing but mere speculation on your side.
