ANY edo character are very hard to deal with tbh.

An edo using the gates, why not... They are reanimated with their full powers so they are able to use everything they had while alive (depending on the edo tensei user's skill).
And i agree, an Edo Gay would really be op, although i wonder if shinobies like Madara and Hashirama are able to use them gates (i mean come on, they are the strongest out there, and one of them was a Kage)

And about an edo using the death reaper seal, i think it could, but only once as that seal takes your soul away, the edo tensei only regenerates the body.
