back. skimming through the arguments, it seems to me that the only counter for most of kabuto's attacks, be it kimimaro's, tayuya's, kidomaru's, muki tensei, white rage etc- all the counter mentioned have to deal with either the yata mirror and the totsuka, susanoo, or amaterasu. so itachi has to use his mangekyou to counter a b-rank tech, and that is assuming he can react in time (plausible). while alive, he used 5 ms technques vs sasuke and died of exhaustion, meaning kabuto will win this pretty much easily vs alive itachi. as to edo itachi, with no sasuke to defend him, what's stopping kabuto from defeating itachi and making him his pawn again? itachi and sasuke saved each other 3 times or more in that fight, and in the meantime the only hit they landed was on kabuto's horn because he didn't realise he had it. if they weren't able to back each other up and had fought 1v1 that would have been over in minutes. no time to get izanami to work. and the other thing which could work, the totsuka sword, has worked against a nagato which couldnt walk, and likewise a giant immobile yamata no orochi. up against one of the best sensors in the manga, who dodged a susanoo arrow at close range. no matter what smokescreens itachi draws up, they won't work against sensing.

You very well know that sage mode drastically increased the power and ability of all those jutsu..

If this is alive itachi, most definitely yes, Itachi will lose.. but edo Itachi is a completely different fighter.. without drawbacks.. he has a much higher chance of pulling off a win.. Izanami doesn't take as long as you think it does.... the majority of the chapters were of kabuto's flash back.. from itachi stating he's about to use it and when he actually does, wasn't that long at all

and lets not forget that it's been stated that Itachi has some method of remaining undetected from sensors.. and Itachi has already fooled kabuto once with crow clones..he can very well do it again
