I honestly feel bad for the Hyuga clan.... Kishimoto hypes them up and then completely ignores them. During Neji's & Naruto's fight, we found out about the Hyuga affair, how the cloud wanted to kidnap Hinata in order to discover the Byakugan's secrets, we also found out that the Hyuga clan is so precautious that they divide the clan into two branches in order for their secrets to be protected.
So here I thought that there was gonna be some secret technique or something of the sort, but so far, the Byakugan seems pretty weak compared to the Sharingan & Rinnegan. But still, Kishimoto continues to bring up this matter. For example, during the 5 Kage summit, Ao, the Mizukage's bodyguard, who happens to have a stolen Byakugan that seems to be pretty strong, as it is able to see through Shisui Uchiha's genjutsu, when Danzo was using it against some guy. Danzo then annoyed that Ao's Byakugan could see through his genjutsu, says that Konoha should have killed that Hyuga traitor sooner. (Chapter 461 p.10)
What did he mean?? Who is this Hyuga traitor? and what does he have to do with Ao, or the Mist??? Even Gaara looks puzzled by that lol. Also, Ao seems to be secretive about his stolen Byakugan, as he has placed a seal, much like the branch members seal, to make it impossible for his eyes to be removed. What was so special about his Byakugan, that even Danzo, who is known for collecting powerful eyes, wanted it???
I thought that this meant, the Hyuga were gonna have a big role in the story, but so far they haven't. Even when Hiashi said that the Hyuga were the strongest in Konoha, Neji, who was a Hyuga prodigy was killed in the exact same chapter. We didn't even get to see him fight that much. Which really sucked, cause he was my favorite
Also, so far the Byakugan's origins remain unknown, and only the Rinnegan & Sharingan seem to be related to the so6p.
So why are they so mysterious?? What is so special about the Byakugan, that people must die in order for its secrets to be kept?? Because honestly its the weakest dojutsu at the moment. And how come, Ao, who could have revealed who this Hyuga traitor is, and what is so special (if there is anything at all) about the Byakugan died?? It's almost like Kishimoto doesn't want us to know.
I sometimes feel like we might never know, and the Hyuga clan, who had such potential of being an awesome part of the story, are just completely random.
Sorry if this seems, like a rant....(which it pretty much is) but I liked Neji alot, and his story, and the Hyuga's story intrigued me alot. And I feel, it's really unfair, that they are forgotten.
