It's quite sad. I believe Sakura's original concept was a "Girl who didn't understand men" and that was the best he could come up with with regards to a heroine.

He doesn't even give them interesting or powerful abilities. Super strength, healing, piggy-back clan-abilities, oragami (I admit that one was interesting, but kind of lame in practice).

Kishi is a sexist.

I think that Mei's lava release is cool, but I do hate how her goal is to get married I mean she is the Mizukage! And Konan was cool. But I think it really comes down to Kishimoto not having much experience with women. Also it's hard to make diverse abilities for a whole universe but I do notice that all of the unique ones do go to men, mainly the antagonists.
