An active part of the human condition is how we, as humans, perceive the world, places, people, situations and even the simplest of things. For example, if I tell a group of people that ‘John put down the pencil, and walked away,’ and then asked them the simple, yet mind blowing question of WHY? No two people out of the group will have the same response, because they will perceive the situation differently from their peers.
It is this ability of perceiving that sets humans aside from animals, that and the fact that humans have a knowledge of the present and past and are able to project into the future, while animals primarily live in the present.
The reason I am going into the philosophy of what sets us aside from animals, is because it has a relation to the focus of this discussion. I want to bring to your attention the way humans perceive the homeless in their community. IMHO we see the 'hobos' of society as stray animals, when in fact they too can perceive the past, present and future just like any other ‘human.’
I want to ask you, the reader, a serious question:
How do you think the homeless perceive us?
ps. this is for an art assignement, so any feedback would be great!!! THANKYOU!
