I'm interested in seeing Hashirama's power unleashed against Madara, but i would enjoy seeing Sasuke having a part in this match. Why? Well to be honest, Sasuke hasn't had too much action in the last two arcs of the story. Madara is definitely a good opponent for him. Madara has a ton more battle experience than Sasuke, which is why this particular fight can definitely push Sasuke to his limits. Naruto was able to handle both Obito and Madara for a few round of attacks. I don't see why Sasuke can't be a good opponent enough for Madara.
People are opposed to the idea of Sasuke beating Madara, because then Sasuke will prove to be stronger than Hashirama. I don't really care about Hashirama's power being more or less than Sasuke's power. Sasuke along with Obito are the two remaining Uchiha that are alive at this point of the series. We need Sasuke to have a challenge not some fodder Juubi clones that's not going to be a worthy adversary for him. I mean we saw how easily Sakura made her way through the clones without too many complications, except at the end, when she started to brag about herself too much about her powers.
Sasuke should play a minor role at the most in Madara vs Hashirama. Madara now has the Rinnegan in his arsenal i would hope that both rivals are evenly matched in terms of powers. Now i'm confused in whether Itachi left Sasuke with the Sword of Totsuka, because i have no knowledge about it. I would say it's a great for Sasuke to have the sword not the shield. I mean his Susanoo is a tank itself; and you even imagine if he gets PS as a following power-up. Now i have two sides of how this battle can happen, but i will only show you one!

Hashirama: Alright! You guys are handling the Juubi pretty well! Tobirama can you keep watch over them?
Tobirama: Don't tell you're going to fight Madara?
Hashirama: I must stop him in order to preserve the peace and future of all these ninja.
