First and foremost, I was shocked to the max when Sasuke pulled that "I will become Hokage" line. But it did reassure me that there would be a final conflict between Naruto and Sasuke, perhaps a friendly one? Regardless, the goal of this thread is to explain, simply, why Sasuke would actually be a good candidate for Hokage.
Naruto has the will(of fire) to become hokage, and that was his goal since the episode 1. We were strung along by Kishimoto until we discovered that the sorry state of the village is fault of the Hokages...and Obito. Regardless, now that we know the basic plot line of Naruto and the history in Naruto, we see that Naruto is a story where the repetition of tainted cycles is the tragic flaw of our heroes.
The previous Hokage all made mistakes.
-The first was too naive
-The second had an extremely judgmental and blunt personality, he was a good guy, but because of his demeanor, his actions were misunderstood, and he wasn't exactly a people's person.
-The third was too indulgent of the first's ideals and left a crucial part of the Hokage's responsibilities to a shady and jealous Danzo.
-The fourth was just unlucky. He didn't have a chance to change anything really.
-The fifth seems to be somewhat ignorant of the truths the first three held.
If Naruto were to become Hokage with his limited knowledge of Konoha's history, there's a chance the cycle could be repeated no matter how strong Naruto feels about changing things.
However if Sasuke were to become Hokage, he could change it, more so likely than Naruto because he knows more. He knows how it started, how it persisted, and how it is, and how it could end if it persists as it did before. (Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it.) So Sasuke is a good choice.
I do think it would be fair for Sasuke or Hashirama to put Naruto on the same level as Sasuke as far as history, but that be redundant on Kishimoto's part.
In conclusion, since the Senju/Uzumaki side Hokage's made things the way they are now, maybe we need an Uchiha Hokage to turn things around.
What do you guy think?
