Yeah, I was pretty surprised not to see them, but they don't belong to Rookie 9.
If Neji was alive, I think Kishi would gather all Konoha 11 members together, but now, when he's dead, Kishi decided not to show Lee and Tenten with Rookie 9...

Pairing are not irrelevant. If they were, Kishimoto wouldn't try to appeal to every shippers in every new chapters. It keeps a part of the readers interested, since the battle has been drawn out so much and doesn't seem to be heading for a conclusion anytime soon.

About Lee and Tenten, well Lee's had his little panel to shine and Tenten's the queen of fodder and nonexistent character development so yeah... Plus they aren't part of the rookie 9 I guess.
