Im a big fan of this manga, its the reason i love Wednesdays lol but kishi is really starting to troll us real hard.
1st of all. who is the actual antagonist? madara? obito? juubi?
i cannot see these people as antagonists. why?
antagonists usually have a goal to which they wish to fulfil, a goal that they are willing to bet their life on achieving that goal. both madara and obito have both forsaken a goal which has been their motive since madara's defection from konoha (leading to the creation of akatsuki and the declaration of the 4th war) in like 5 chapters.
both wished to become the jinchuuriki of the juubi and use its power to cast infinite tsukuyomi but who can see that happening now?
Obito
lets start with obito, ima say this, he has lost all his charisma ever since his mask was destroyed. i mean his motive for starting his downfall to evil was the death of a little girl who friend-zoned him and didn't recognise his feelings for her whatever. but even so, he was a formidable enemy and all his feats are impressive.
i mean chapter 594 when naruto trys to attack the mazou, obito incepts and declares his intent that he will not let him touch it.
but then in chapter 628 he abandons all this to settle things with kakashi
now you may say, "well duh of course hes gona settle things with kakashi". but heres my point. i predict the next time we see obito, hes problably gona be dead or will have fell victim to talk no jutsu and will have changed sides. but if its so easy for him to just abandon his goal, then why is he one of the main antagonists.
Madara
this guy went from badass to useless so quick its funny. its seems to me that his only goal is butt licking hashirama even though he was the one who started the whole infinite tsukuyomi project. i have never seen a main antagonist sit on the sideline so much. even obito was fighting before he left with kakashi while madara was just standing there throwing lame ass insults like "your useless" and "your about to be obliterated" and then upon seeing their survival, being like WDF.
now u can say 'yh but he owned the five kages' but that makes it worse. that means its not that he can't stomp them, he can but just isn't. no matter how weak you think your opponent is, as an antagonist, you are meant to destroy all who stand against you. and naruto an co are not even weak.
now the kages and sasuke arrive he then abandons everything, all motive whatsoever just to fight hashirama. he dosen't even acknowledge the other kages existence even after seeing minato make a juubi tbb disappear (that alone tells you the strength of the kages), im sorry but madara fails as an antagonist.
Other
the juubi is just a chakra monster that knows nothing but destruction so therefore cannot be seen as antagonist.
sasuke who for most of part 2 wants revenge and naruto wanting to save him from revenge is then wasted when the man who started him on his path to vengeance is also the the man who saves him (itachi saved him, not the kages, he wouldn't have gone to the kages if not for itachi)
sakura who has been completely useless since the sasori fight gets a sudden power boost.
im really hoping kishi pulls out something to make this manga special again and that we get a real antagonist before the end of the series. which bring me to orochimaru's absence. he is definitely up to something.
