How so? Can you clarify or support your hypothesis?

simple, we saw and know for a fact, that mangekyo sharingan blinds the user eventually, it takes away light, and in the final battle with sasuke, itachi barely see not only that. It puts a strain in the user and the eyes, and in medical stuff your eyes is connected to the brain with that overuse of susanoo and totsuka it could put a huge massive strain on Itachi's brain.

susanoo is also said to consume the castor.

My apologies for taking so long.
I haven't been searching since my post but I have searched and searched because I don't have premium.

Meaning I'm limited to 4 pages of previous posts.
(I will look for it further but when I'm bored)

Now, here is what I remember about it.

Itachi learned of the uzuamki masks, (shady on why and how)
The theory read that he needed a specific mask to reverse something of use to him but he obtained
The wrong mask and like oro said, the wrong mask can lead to trouble.
Well itachi was given an incurable illness, he would/does/did die slowly.

I know how I'm saying it, makes it sound bad but I promise you that when I read
This theory it was very convincing as to the reason why he was Ill.
